Factors Affecting Motion

Page 2: Force and Motion

MotionMovement of an object from on place to another in a certain period of time.

It is affected by the mass and shape of an object and the amount of force applied to an object

Page 3: Force and Motion

Inertia A condition wherein an object is:- at rest- moving at a constant speed or velocity

the movement of the object will only change if there is unbalanced force that will be applied to it.

Page 4: Force and Motion

Factors Affecting Motion Force- push or pull that starts, stops or changes the direction of an object.

- the action exerted by a body to another which causes motion

- classified into contact force and non-contact force.

Page 5: Force and Motion

Force Contact Forces-directly applied push or pull- friction

Page 6: Force and Motion

Force Non-contact/Universal Forces

- gravitational force- magnetic force- electric force- nuclear force

Factors Affecting MotionMass- “The heavier the object is, the higher the amount of force is needed to make it move.”

If the object is heavy, it is hard to make it move.

If the object is heavy, it is hard to make it stop.

If the object is heavy, it is hard to change the direction of its motion.
