Parliament Induction
From the Principal….. What a fabulous day we had for our Swimming Carnival last Friday. The weather was perfect and our students were in fine form and strong voice for this exciting event. As a school that prides itself on maximising the opportunities for all students to participate, the sheer enjoyment of the children taking part in events ranging from non-swimmers’ novelties to the gruelling individual medley was testament to the success of the day.
Our Parliament Induction assembly, held yesterday, was once again a highlight of our school calendar. 10 Ministers and 9 Shadow Ministers – including our School Captains and Parliamentary Speaker – took their ‘oath of office’ signing their Code of Conduct and witnessed by their parents, carers and family members, along with the entire staff and student body.
Our “Connect Meets” continue this week with KW and 1O holding their meets today, while 4/5F, 5/6P and 5/6Y will hold theirs on Thursday. We have had an overwhelming response to these meets. It is wonderful to have so many parents/carers engaged in their child’s learning.
Have a great week! Steve McAlister Principal

Swimming Carnival
Last Friday we had our annual swimming carnival and what a day it was! We had so many students try their best and swim their best times. The atmosphere at the pool on the day was incredible with students not only cheering on their house and team mates but all students in all events. The sportsmanship displayed on the day made all staff proud to work with these students. 25 students will now travel to Condobolin on Friday to participate in the Lachlan PSSA swimming carnival. A special mention to Annaliese Green who has broken a Forbes North swimming record for the 12/13 years girls butterfly, the previous record was set in 2012 at a time of 53.69. Annaliese broke the record with a new time of 53.06. Well done!!!
Thank you to Ruby and Freya Dumbrell for the donation of chaff for the chooks and to the Walker family who donated 2 bales of lucerne hay as well. The girls really appreciate it!!
GARDEN NEWS
This year every class in the school have been allocated an area of the school garden to maintain and water. Each class will ready their garden beds, clear weeds, plant with seasonal produce and flowers. They will maintain and harvest their garden for the school kitchen.
The P&C have donated $500 for the garden project! This is such good timing as all garden beds need topping up with soil as over the years soil levels have dropped because of heavy use! The school garden will continue to be a place for science discovery and learning.
Kitchen News
This week, the seniors have been putting together their own wraps using various ingredients. To top off their afternoon snack, each student has enjoyed a wedge of school-grown pear. YUM!
PBL FOCUS – We make good choices.
At Forbes North Public School:
• We respect each other’s decisions. • We keep our hands and feet to ourselves. • We follow classroom and playground rules. • We display good sportsmanship. • We ensure that the games we are playing do not include wrestling, boxing or fighting. They
can go too far and become hurtful. • We take responsibility for our own actions! • We use alternate ways to deal with the situation if we are angry.
Positive Behaviour for Learning
Class lessons this week will focus on students making good choices that show they are being safe, respectful and responsible learners.
