Parent Teacher Interviews
This is a reminder that Parent Teacher interviews will be held next week. An online booking system will be used again this year. Please refer to the information below to book a time with your child’s teacher. Attendance: Why is it so important that students arrive to school on time every day?
Students are engaged in critical learning activities from the minute they enter the classroom, so we don’t want them to miss out on any of the learning
Being on time shows students the importance of punctuality and responsibility
It reduces disruption to others’ learning and work
Students have time to see their friends and peers prior to beginning their lessons for the day

What can I do if I think my children are being bullied at school?
• Try to talk with your children about what is going on.
• Listen to their concerns and believe them.
• Be aware of your own response and react in a calm and helpful manner.
• Talk with your children’s teachers and calmly discuss the situation and some possible strategies.
• Encourage your children to ask for help at school if they are being bullied e.g. talk about who they could talk to at school, and how to ask for help.
What can I do to help my children if they are being cyber bullied?
To prevent and respond to cyber-bullying, a useful acronym to remember is I-CURRB.
• Investigate what your child is doing online.
• Communicate regularly with your children to understand what they enjoy doing online.
• Use family safety software to keep track of what your children are able to access online.
• Research policies on cyberbullying. Online applications, such as Instant Messenger (IM), will have their own policies.
• Report cyberbullying.
• Block communications from students who cyberbully others. Most IM applications, chat rooms and email account providers allow you to block messages from identified people.

Deputy Principal (rel) JPPS 2018 Cross Country
There is always an air of uncertainty around this time of year when the clouds are known to cry on us. Thankfully for us we were very lucky to have nice clear weather for our carnival. Over the last few years one or two of our Year 2 students made it through to the Beecroft Zone Cross Country. Whilst we did not have any Year 2’s in the top 5 this year it was amazing to see a record number of 29 of the eight year old Year 2 students having a go at the primary carnival.

Congratulations to students, teachers and parents for a very successful Harmony Day Assembly held Thursday 15th March!
JPPS celebrated Harmony Day and its message that “everyone belongs” with a special parade. Students had the opportunity to showcase their colourful national costumes and greet us in their native language, highlighting the importance of our shared values and cultural traditions.
Students at this school bring with them a rich cultural diversity that makes our school a wonderful place to learn. The students are to be commended for their enthusiasm and participation in such an important event.
Again, another huge THANK YOU to all our parent helpers for making the day so successful!

From the Canteen
A very big thank you to the mums who made Easter treats to sell at recess after the Easter Hat Parade last Thursday. The muffins, Easter themed biscuits, jelly and popcorn were a big hit with the students. As usual, we appreciate our volunteers for all the extra work they put into making these days special.
UNIFORM SHOP NEWS
***** WINTER UNIFORM REMINDER ***** Students start wearing the winter school & sports uniforms from Day 1 of Term 2 until the end of Term 3. Stock is available now, so avoid the rush & the queues, and visit the Uniform Shop before the end of this term. The Uniform Shop is open every school day from 8.30am to 9.30am.
Clearance of Discontinued Hats - $10
(Please note there are limited sizes available until sold out)
The Uniform Shop will no longer be supplying
plastic bags with purchases after April 2018.
The JPPS Uniform Shop is run as an enterprise of the JPPS P&C as a service to the school community and any
proceeds from the shop are transferred to the JPPS P & C General Fund. The purchase of uniform items from the JPPS Uniform Shop helps fund P&C programs that benefit all JPPS students and the clothing items on offer are of a high quality. We would also like to advise parents that the Uniform Shop does not have its own supply of plastic bags for uniform purchases. To help with recycling, we only use a small stock of bags so please be aware that a bag will not always be offered to you. Opening Times:
The Uniform Shop is open every school day from 8.30am to 9.30am. Donations:
The Uniform Shop accepts donations of good quality used school uniforms. For health reasons, please ensure that all donated items are washed. Please also check for rips, stains and that the pockets are emptied. Lastly, please note we are unable to accept used hats and socks. Volunteers Needed
The Uniform Shop is always looking for new volunteers to help from 8.30am to 9.30am. If you are interested in then please drop in and have a chat with the Uniform Shop Manager, Marnie Lipa.
