CURRICULUM

Our Summer theme will be

“Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”. Research has shown that birth to age 8

is a crucial time for a child’s development of Literacy. Language

and Literacy is the foundation for all learning. It’s the major portal through

which the other learning domains unfold, including Math, Science, Social Studies, Creative Expression, Social &

Emotional Development and 21st century skills. This Summer, children’s

imaginations will be stimulated by reading about fictitious characters and

magical worlds. Our students will focus on Literacy and discover all the

fun places that you can visit in a book!

Authors & Topics will include:

• Shel Silverstein (Poetry)

• Laura Numeroff

• Eric Carle (Nature)

• Donald Crews (Transportation)

• Bill Martin Jr.

• Julia Donaldson (Animals)

ENRICHMENTS

Chess At Three gets kids playing and loving chess through storytelling. Students learn about

sportsmanship, grit, and math. Chess teaches children invaluable lessons that will positively impact them

both in school and at home.

Art History is the study of an artist and the development of their paintings, sculptures, or other visual arts. Students will explore a new artist each

month and create a piece of art inspired by the artist.

MasterChef will teach students important life skills in the Kitchen while creating up tasty, fun memories!

Students will collaboratively make new foods, making sure to taste all their creations!

Handwriting Without Tears is developmentally

appropriate, multisensory handwriting instruction for all learning styles. Children who master handwriting

are better, more creative writers. The earlier we teach children to master handwriting, the more likely they are to succeed in school, and write with speed

and ease in all subjects. Fun and engaging instructional methods will be used to enable students

to master handwriting as an automatic and comfortable skill.
