Throughout the month of September, promotion of reading literacy will be included in the curriculum using cooperative learning, reading circles as well as other innovated class exercises. Also, parents will have the opportunity to volunteer their time during reading periods, either by listening to students read aloud, or reading aloud to groups of students. 2) Math-o-ween October will be much more than just tricks or treats! Students will dive into math utilizing strategies such as Touch Math. Activities in the Fall1) Fall into Reading Month

Becoming involved in your child’s reading is an asset. Throughout

the month of September, promotion of reading literacy will

be included in the curriculum using cooperative learning, reading

circles as well as other innovated class exercises. Also, parents will have the opportunity to volunteer their time during reading periods,

either by listening to students read aloud, or reading aloud to groups

of students.

2) Math-o-weenOctober will be much more than just tricks or treats! Students will dive into math utilizing strategies

such as Touch Math. Touch Math is an innovated inclusive strategy

which benefits all types of learners. Parents are more than welcome to drop-in during the

festivities

3) Writing Carnival This week during the term will

focus on creative writing. A guest speaker will be dropping in during the week (On the 15th) to talk to

School EnvironmentOur classroom community will exhibit a friendly, sociable atmosphere supporting innovative ways of thinking, discovering various topics and learning about ourselves. Being involved and active in your child’s learning is essential for encouraging their efforts and fostering their love of learning. Suggestions to getting ‘active’ in your child’s learning can include, but are not limited to:

Participating in class activities, lectures and field trips. Working collaboratively with your child during homework time. Checking agenda’s and monthly newsletters for upcoming

social events. Discussing any concerns with myself, the special resource

Students will have the opportunity to create a contract at the beginning of the term listing their intentions throughout the academic year. Including all students in this process will help keep them focused on their end goal (Examples – Working on public speaking, improving literacy or

Teaching for Diving into new learning topics and experiences awaits us in the upcoming school year! My objective is to ensure a friendly and safe environment for all learners, both gifted and exceptional. I plan to work collaboratively with students ensuring that all learners are on-task every step of the way. I believe that the school community must work co-operatively to positively benefit all members. It is important to develop a sense of belonging as well as encourage respect for differences and diversity. Learning is an enriching process that must be shared. Therefore, it is my goal to provide parents with monthly newsletters providing additional information, future activities and end goals for the month. I look forward to meeting you all at the open house held August 17th from 14:00-
