Leman earned 80.72 percent of the Austin County vote, winning here over Webster 8,752- 2,090. Leman carried early voting 5,180- 1,098. The only other locally contested race came in Precinct 3 where Republican Clyde Drake defeated Democrat Hilda Guillen Gomez for Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, 1,631-611 (72.75% to 27.25%). All other local candidates on the ballot did not draw an opponent, and were all Republicans. They include: District Attorney Travis J. Koehn, 9,357; County Judge Tim Lapham, 9,309 votes; Judge, County Court at Law Daniel W. Leedy, 9,414; District Clerk Sue Murphy, 9,414; County Clerk Carrie Gregor, 9,459; County Treasurer Bryan Haevischer, 9,346. A n d , Commissioner Precinct 2 Robert Wayne “Bobby” Rinn, 2,802; Commissioner Precinct 4 Douglas W. King, 2,129; Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 Rick Yancey, 2,538; Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Wilfred W. Krause, 2,820; Justice of the Peace Precinct 4, Bernice Burger, 2,169; and Constable Precinct 1 Richard Holloman, 2,537. In addition, District Judge, 155th Judicial Court Jeff Steinhauser, an incumbent and unopposed Republican, garnered 9,334 votes here. While Republican incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz found himself in a tight race with Democratic challenger Beto O’Rourke statewide had no trouble in Austin County, carrying it 8,702- County drug cases since they were non-violent. However, since his Austin County case included a finding that he committed the crime with a deadly weapon, he will not be eligible for parole until he has served 30 calendar years on his Austin County sentence. First Assistant District Attorney Brandy Robinson stated, “Police Officer Eric Bryant was almost killed in the line of duty that night in 2012. He Bluntson - - (Continued from Page 1A) handled himself with the highest level of professionalism during a dangerous high speed chase and did everything possible to keep the community safe.” “We’re grateful to have Officer Bryant and other officers like him continuing to serve in Austin County,” Robinson added. District Attorney Travis Koehn stated, “The Texas Rangers, Fort Bend County Crime Scene Investigators, Department of Public Safety, and Sealy Police Department all worked tirelessly to bring the jury the evidence needed to make the right decision.” “Bluntson is a particularly dangerous criminal. There is no doubt the citizens of Austin County and surrounding counties will be safer with him behind bars.” Voters - - (Continued from Page 1A) (See VOTERS, 8B) 1918 in The Times Here’s a look back to what was happening on Nov. 21, 1918 in The Bellville Times. ––– From Page 1 ––– INSIDE HIGHLIGHTS ––– R.W. Thompson of the Cochran neighborhood has recently installed at his home a Delco electric lighting system and his home is now modernly equipped with electric lights, electric iron, and other labor saving devices. The home of his son, Roy Thompson, is supplied with electricity from the same plant, and thus the two families are splendidly equipped with conveniences such as could be had only in cities or towns some years ago. Messrs. Louwien and Kuehn have sold another such electric plant this week to Otto Schumann, who lives about two miles south of town. Thus our farmers are continually improving their homes, making a pleasure of what used to be a burden on the farm, and we predict that at no distant date Austin County will have many of the best equipped farms in Texas or anywhere else. ––– Sweeping Changes in Santa Fe Schedules So great changes have been made in the schedule of passenger trains on the Santa Fe this week, that the matter is still a puzzle to many. Instead of three trains each way daily, Bellville now has only two – (Northbound) train 6, arriving at 10:47 a.m. and train 18, arriving her at 10:47 p.m. (Southbound) train 17 arrives here at 6:05 a.m. and No. 5 arrives here at 5:39 p.m. All these trains go to or from Galveston, using the M.K. & T. tracks between Houston and Sealy, with no stops between those two places. Train 16 northbound and 15 southbound, heretofore running through Bellville, now come no further north than Bellville yard. Kenney has (Southbound) train 17, arriving here at 5:48 a.m. and train 5, at 5:21 p.m.; (Northbound) train 6 at 11:01 a.m. and train 18 at 11:01 p.m. ––– Efforts are being made to have a band concert in the courthouse yards, from 2 to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day. ––– From a Bellville Boy in France Dear Father, Received a letter from you and one from mother today. Yours dated Sept. 9th, and mother’s dated Sept. 12. Was indeed glad to hear that crops turned out fairly ell and business is good. You might have mentioned what was being done in the saloon building, also a little more about Postoak, pasture and cattle. As to the motorcycle accident, I thought I explained it clearly at the time. I was fit for duty (See 1918, 8B)

County drug cases since they were non-violent.

He

handled himself with the highest level of professionalism during a dangerous high speed chase and did everything possible to keep the community safe.”

“We’re grateful to have Officer Bryant and other officers like him continuing to serve in Austin County,” Robinson added.

District Attorney Travis Koehn stated, “The Texas Rangers, Fort Bend County Crime Scene Investigators, Department of Public Safety, and Sealy Police Department all worked tirelessly to bring the jury the evidence needed to make the right decision.”

“Bluntson is a particularly dangerous criminal. There is no doubt the citizens of Austin County and surrounding counties will be safer with him behind bars.”

HIGHLIGHTS–––

R.W. Thus our farmers are continually

improving their homes, making a pleasure of what used to be a burden on the farm, and we predict that at no distant date Austin County will have many of the best equipped farms in Texas or anywhere else.

–––Sweeping Changes

in Santa Fe Schedules

So great changes have been made in the schedule of passenger trains on the Santa Fe this week, that the matter is still a puzzle to many.

–––Efforts are being

made to have a band concert in the courthouse yards, from 2 to 4 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

Dear Father,Received a letter

from you and one from mother today.
