FINANCING YOUR EDUCATIONWhat will the program cost? The MBA program at MSU-Madisonville will cost $21,000 (approximately $656 per credit hour). There are 11 courses total in the curriculum, including the 2-hour foundations course, BUS 695.

Are there financial aid opportunities? Please consult your employer to see if they offer a tuition assistance program. There may also be federal financial aid available as well. For more information about financial aid, contact:MSU Financial Aid Office1-800-272-4678, ext. 3murraystate.edu/financialaid

APPLYING TO THE PROGRAMHow do I apply?Your application fee ($40) will be waived when you apply to the program (use code MVILLEMBA in the promo code box when you apply online). Visit our web site at murraystate.edu/graduate for more information on how to apply to the program. Note: Make sure to indicate “Madisonville” in the location box during the online application process.

Do I need to take the GRE or GMAT Exam? Maybe not! If you have either a 3.0 GPA in your baccalaureate degree (no matter what year) or have earned an advanced degree (master’s degree or above), then the GRE admissions exam requirement will be waived. If you have not met the requirements for the waiver, you will need to take the GRE before January 2019 in order to be admitted to the Madisonville MBA program. You will need a recent GRE Handbook to review for at least two months prior to taking the GRE (The Princeton Review, Barron’s, or Kaplan GRE Test Prep books are recommended). Send your score to Murray State from the Educational Testing Service by including the correct institutional code when you schedule your test (code 1494). If you do not pass the GRE test, you will need to re-take the test. Approximately 85% of students who do not pass on the first attempt do pass the GRE on the second attempt.

For more information about whether or not you are required to take the GRE, as well as information on the minimum GRE score requirement, please email Dr. Joy Humphreys at [email protected].

MBA DEGREE REQUIREMENTS• In order to receive the MBA degree, a candidate must earn a minimum grade point average of 3.00 in all graduate courses taken at Murray State University. Repeating a graduate course does not cancel a previous grade in the course. Your grades in the same course (if repeated online) will be averaged out. A candidate may not repeat a course in which a previous grade of “A” or “B” was earned.

• A minimum grade of “C” is required to receive credit for a graduate course. No more than one “C” will be accepted in fulfillment of the seven MBA core courses. If a student has one grade of “C” in the seven core courses, one grade of “C” in the electives, and an overall GPA of at least 3.00, this scenario would allow them to graduate.

• Student question: “What if I get two ‘C’ grades in core courses?” If this happens, you would have to re-take one of the two courses online later and earn a grade of at least a “B.” For Madisonville MBA students, this would mean taking the 100% online version of the course at MSU since we are only offering each course once in Madisonville. Students will have to pay additional tuition for the class outside the total cost package of the MBA program.

• A candidate is awarded one “quality deficit point” for each grade of “C” received, two points for each “D,” and three points for each “E.” Upon receipt of four quality deficit points, the student will be dropped from the MBA program.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS• What if I don’t have a bachelor’s degree in business? No problem. You will be able to get “up to speed” in business subjects with the BUS 695 course.

• Do I need textbooks? Yes, you will need to purchase your textbooks on your own well in advance of the course starting. You may purchase your textbooks at the Murray State Bookstore at https://bookstore.murraystate.edu or from a popular online store, such as Amazon.

• If I start the Madisonville MBA but have to move out of the area before I complete it, what are my options? You will be able to seamlessly transition to our 100% online MBA program to complete your coursework.

• What do people do with the MBA degree? The MBA is the most versatile of all graduate degrees in terms of the range of career options it affords you. You can use the MBA in virtually any field because it gives you the kind of multi-dimensional, multifaceted, multi-industry and multifunctional dimension that no other graduate degree will. The MBA degree is, of course, the ultimate career enhancer in terms of pay raises and promotions. You can also go on to pursue your PhD as many have done in the past by going to some of the most prestigious universities in the world.
