These American Heart Association courses are for anyone who may have family members at risk of cardiac emergencies or want to know how to respond to an emergency situation in the home or workplace.

Information and skills covered include cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and relief of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO).

A course completion card is issued after a demonstration of skills. Recertification is recommended every two years.

These American Heart Association courses meet requirements as nationally recognized CPR and AED training.

All classes may be individually arranged for groups of six or more at St. Luke’s Hospital or your location.

ASSOCIATION: Heartsaver CPR Courses

For individuals wishing to take courses, information can be found on the St. Luke’s website – www.unitypoint.org/cedarrapids. Click on Classes & Events, and then click First Aid/CPR.

Heartsaver CPR/ AED TrainingThis course is for all lay rescuers. This three hour course focuses on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and training of how to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO) for all ages (adult, child and infant).

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid and CPR*This four hour course teaches individuals to manage injury/illness in an infant or child in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. This class is perfect for those involved in childcare and/or those who have a duty to respond to a first aid emergency.

Heartsaver Adult First Aid & CPR* This five hour course is designed for those wanting to be prepared in the event of an emergency situation involving an adult. It meets OSHA requirements for first aid and CPR responders in the workplace. Information covered in this course includes basic first aid, CPR and relief of obstructed airway skills for the adult victim. It is presented in a relaxed learning environment that focuses on the hands-on practice of skills.

Blood Borne Pathogen TrainingThis one hour program teaches participants how to recognize occupational risks of exposure to blood borne pathogens and take actions to reduce or eliminate the possibility of disease transmission. This course includes a manual and certification card. This training is required every year.*Online training and skills testing option available with these classes.
