Irregularities can occur in the surface finish of all awning fabrics. These are particularly evident on such fabrics, as the fabric is viewed against the light.

Knots, thick and thin places in the yarn, in-dividual yarn breaks and waviness can occur especially at the hems and middle seams (figs. 1 and 2) and are unavoidable at the present tech-nology level. The manufacturing process and packing in particular mean that folds cannot be avoided.

Crease traces (fig. 3) that arise when mak-ing up the awning fabric are unavoidable. When seen in light shining through, these look like streaks of dirt, but cannot be avoided with cur-rent technology.

Please draw the attention of your customers to this in the sales discussion. We offer you “rolled dispatch” (extra charge) to prevent folds caused in packing.

VAlAnce stYLes

Lewens awning fabrics have been created especially to provide shade outdoors and are treated to make them water- and dirt-repellent.

We make the awnings up using the latest sew-ing techniques for distortion-free seams and also using ultrasonic bonding.

We have also designed our manufacturing facil-ity so that the awning fabrics can be laid out entirely flat (not folded) for making up.

Some of our quality features:

ww Secure lockstitch used for making up, optionally also with ultrasonically bonded seam (extra charge).

ww Awning and valance are produced from one piece (identical repeat pattern)

ww Seams on top and bottom and valance seam neatened (clean completion)

ww Repeat-symmetrical completion left and right

ww UV-resistant, tear-resistant GORE TENARA sewing thread (transparent)

uV protection

Scientific studies have shown that awning fabrics produce a filter effect of up to 100 % against UV rays, depending on the material and fabric colour. It feels good, therefore, to enjoy the summer while safely protected by an awning.

You can find the respective uV value in the in-formation with the fabric samples in our collec-tion. The amount of time that should be spent under the awning varies depending on skin type and the protection factor of the fabric (see the table Collection).

We offer Tempotest STAR light, Italian awn-ing fabrics made from branded polyester with outstanding properties:

ww pristine appearance due to fewer winding and folding creases and less cockling plus excellent shape recovery characteristics of the woven fabric

ww optimum protection from the sun and uV rays, vibrant colours, long-lasting colour brilliance thanks to bulk dyeing (not yarn-dyed like other woven polyester fabrics)

ww pleasantly soft surface with the appearance and feel of a textile fabric, high weather resistance and optimum resilience
