LEADING U.S. GOLF ORGANIZATIONS COLLABORATE TO HOSTWOMEN’S GOLF WEEK PROGRAM JUNE 4-11
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL (May 3, 2005) – Thousands of women nationwide will be treated to free golf
lessons and golf-related social activities at several hundred public, resort and private golf courses from
Saturday, June 4 through June 11, 2005 as part of Women’s Golf Week, a precedent-setting collaboration
of the top U.S. golf organizations aimed at increasing the participation of women in golf.
Women’s Golf Week is a grass roots player development program spearheaded by GOLF 20/20, in
association with the LPGA, PGA TOUR, PGA of America, United States Golf Association (USGA), The
First Tee, the Executive Women’s Golf Association (EWGA), the National Golf Course Owners Association
(NGCOA) and the World Golf Hall of Fame. Golf For Women magazine is the presenting sponsor.
Women’s Golf Week was developed in response to the input of golf industry leaders at last November’s
GOLF 20/20 conference. The program is designed to make learning and playing golf fun in a women-
friendly environment. Women 14 years of age and older who are new to golf, as well as continuing golfers
interested in honing their skills, can participate in complimentary clinics, while adult women also can take
advantage of networking sessions with others who share their passion for the game. Women who are
interested in the program can visit www.womensgolfweek.com through the Play Golf America website to
locate a participating host facility in their area and to learn more about the specific events offered.
Participants may register online at the Women’s Golf Week website and at participating host courses in
advance of and on the day of each event.
“We believe that engaging more women in golf, and by extension more families, should be an important
component in our effort to secure the future of the game,” said Ruffin Beckwith, Executive Director of GOLF
20/20. “We hope that with the ongoing support of the allied associations, Women’s Golf Week will become a
staple of the annual golf calendar and ultimately have a significant impact on overall participation levels.”

throughout the year to discover new and easy ways to get more golf into their lives.
In addition to complimentary golf instruction on Saturday, June 4, participating courses will offer activities
such as networking receptions, golf rules and etiquette seminars, club fitting and equipment
demonstrations, golf apparel fashion shows, luncheons and contests, all customized by each host facility.
Women’s Golf Week will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a non-profit organization that is
dedicated to saving lives by helping to find cures for cancer. While the activities will be offered free of
charge, participants will have the option of making a tax-deductible donation that will help fund research for
women’s cancer initiatives through The V Foundation.
World Golf Hall of Famer Kathy Whitworth, LPGA and PGA of America professional Suzy Whaley and
nationally recognized instructor and author Cindy Reid serve as National Spokespersons of Women’s Golf Week. A kick-off event will be held on Friday, June 3 at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine,
