We Safeguard and Promote the Welfare of our Young Learners aged 10 - 15
It is now a legal requirement that a Young Learner under 16 years old is
looked after by a local authority approved foster family if the course exceeds 3 weeks. We have a limited number of local authorityapproved foster families available for Young
Learners wishing to attend a course for more than 3 weeks (4 - 12 week course durations). Please
apply for a special quotation as soon as possible.
Choice of coursesChoose from the following Young Learners Courses:• English language and activity course (20 lessons per week)• Intensive English language and educational activity course (28 lessons per week)
ClassesYour son/daughter will study in a lively international atmosphere with others whose levels of English aresimilar. Your son/daughter will be taught by a team of two or three teachers, who encourage participationand interaction between members of the group - and English will be the only language used!
LessonsThe lessons will be stimulating and effective, with a variety of activities to develop your son/daughter’s confidence, knowledge and skills:• lively presentation and practice of new language• rapid development of oral fluency, accuracy and conversation skills• systematic development of listening, reading and writing skills• extension of vocabulary, structure and usage
If your son/daughter follows an intensive course of 28 lessons per week, they will have theadditional benefit of a language extension programme with a more academic approach.
Excursions, Sports and Leisure ActivitiesA wide variety of excursions, sports and leisure activities are an integral part of the programme.Students develop their language during activities and excursions using quizzes and worksheets aboutthe destination. Excursions and activities are also followed up in class and students are encouragedto develop language through their experiences.

We Safeguard and Promote the Welfare of our Young Students aged 16 - 17
In line with British Council recommendations and to help to ensure that younger students receive the
best possible care while they are in the UK, Anglo-Continental carries out daily safety checks on
students under the age of 18. These include checking that all homestay family members are
suitable to accommodate younger students by using the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and
carrying out special daily attendance checks and following up on any absences. A levy is included in the accommodation fees for these extra safety checks.
The Vacation Course consists of 20 lessons per week of General English language lessons.
ClassesYour son/daughter will study in a lively international atmosphere with others whose levels of English aresimilar. Your son/daughter will be taught by a team of two or three teachers, who encourage participationand interaction between members of the group - and English will be the only language used!
LessonsYour son/daughter will receive a balanced programme which includes grammar, skills development,and vocabulary development. The classes will be learner-centred. This means that students will takean active part in the classes and will be expected to speak with and listen to fellow students in pairsor small groups.
TimetableUsually, the timetable will change at the end of every week from morning to afternoon or fromafternoon to morning.
HomeworkHomework forms an integral part of the course.
ProgressLessons will include a variety of activities including games, quizzes, pair and group work which willenable the teacher to assess your son/daughter’s performance on a weekly basis. If your son/daughter’s class reaches the end of a level, a longer test will be given to see if your son/daughter isready to go to the next level.
Certificate of StudiesAt the end of the course your son/daughter will receive an Anglo-Continental Certificate of Studies(providing he/she attends a minimum of 80% of the lessons).

Departure from EnglandReturn flightsOur staff will confirm the travel arrangements forthe return journey, and revalidation if required. Ifthe ticket has to be changed for any reason, anadministrative charge will be added for thisservice. You will be responsible for paying anyadditional charges imposed by the transportcompany.
Escorted transfers to the airport on departureIf you have reserved a return transfer to LondonHeathrow Airport (LHR) on the Sunday at theend of the course, for flights departing between10.00 and 19.00 hours, our staff will escortyour son/daughter to the airport. If you haverequested the check-in service, your son/daughter will be escorted to the check-in andhanded over to a member of the airline staff.
Travel informationThe flight/travel details and time and place ofarrival must be provided no later than 10 daysbefore the Sunday of course commencement,and reconfirmed to us in the event of anychange. For this purpose, we require you tocomplete and return the Declaration form onpages 21 and 22.
Reception at the airportAll students who have reserved Anglo-Continentaltransfers, and for whom travel details have beenreceived, are met by our staff in the ‘ArrivalsArea’. Full details of the meeting point aregiven in the confirmation documents. Studentsare escorted by Anglo-Continental staff to theirhomestay accommodation. To identify our staff,your son/daughter should look for the sign:
Help telephone numbersIf your son/daughter does not arrive on the flightspecified, or is delayed and therefore fails tomeet our staff, he/she should call the emergencytelephone number given on the schoolconfirmation documents.
Delayed arrivalYour son/daughter is allowed two hours’ waitingtime from the advised arrival time, free ofcharge. If this time is exceeded, a further twohours waiting time will be charged inaccordance with the published tariff.
Possible waiting times for coach transfersIt is our aim to transfer your son/daughter toBournemouth as soon as possible. Please takeinto account the following: flights may bedelayed, late release of luggage, UK BorderControl, Customs Control and heavy road traffic.Depending on the time your son/daughter entersthe arrival hall, they may have to wait more thanone hour for the next coach departure. They willbe fully supervised during the waiting time.

Luggage allowance - car and coach transfersYour son/daughter’s free allowance is onepiece of luggage of a standard size andshape weighing not more than 23kg, plus oneitem of hand luggage of not more than 10kg.If your son/daughter’s luggage does notconform with the above, an additionalcharge may have to be made. It is importantthat you advise us in advance if there isexcess baggage so we can makeappropriate arrangements, otherwise youmay find that the excess luggage cannottravel with your son/daughter and there maybe additional charges.
Young Learners travelling aloneIf your son/daughter is under 16 years ofage and is travelling alone, we advise you tocheck with the airline for rules andregulations regarding this. You will beresponsible for any unaccompanied childairline service charges.
PaymentPayment for transfers must be made beforethe date of provision of the service. Anyadditional charges, such as delayed arrival,must be paid on the first day of school.
CancellationNotice of cancellation or change of atransfer must be received in writing by theschool before 12.00 hours (British Time) onthe Wednesday prior to the scheduled day ofarrival or departure. If such notice is notreceived within the period stipulated, weincur obligations to the transport companiesand therefore the full charge is due.
Liability and insuranceWe cannot accept responsibility for anydelay in scheduled services, or if any servicecannot be provided as specified, or for anyloss, damage or injury to students or theirproperty during travel. We strongly adviseyou to take out personal insurance to coveryour son/daughter against these risks.

Transfer information

Enrolment
All enrolments are subject to these conditions, whichbecome legally binding on confirmation of acceptanceby Anglo-Continental, and to the age limitations andarrangements specified in Anglo-Continental's officialpublications, including the ‘Student Handbook’.
The enrolled student intends and is able to follow andcomplete the course of study at Anglo-Continental anddeclares that he/she shall abide by all current UK laws andleave the United Kingdom at the end of his/her studies.
Anglo-Continental reserves the right to withholdconfirmation of an enrolment, at its discretion, if suchaction is deemed necessary in the interests of thestudent or the school or if an incorrect declaration hasbeen made.
Fees
The fees must be received in full by Anglo-Continentalno later than four weeks before course commencement,otherwise Anglo-Continental reserves the right to cancel,without notice, the course, accommodation and all otherservices. Course fees are calculated in complete weeks,and any part of a week is counted as a full week.
No compensation, fee reductions, refunds, credit,additional lessons or extension of the course can begiven for:
- services or facilities included in the fees and not used;
- late entry to or absence or early departure from acourse;
- lessons replaced by testing, class allocation proceduresor the sightseeing tour on course entry dates;
- days when schools are closed because of officialholidays.
Any refunds which are approved can only be made bythe office or Agent to whom the fees were originallypaid. Anglo-Continental reserves the right to make feeadjustments as a result of changes to statutory taxeswithout prior notice.
Visas
If your son/daughter requires a visa, it is yourresponsibility to ensure that you apply for thecorrect type of visa to allow your son/daughter tostudy at Anglo-Continental for the entire period of thecourse(s). It is also your responsibility to ensure thatyour son/daughter continues to maintain the correctimmigration status to study at Anglo-Continental for theduration of the course(s). Failure to do so may lead totermination of your son/daughter’s studies withoutrefund or compensation. For further informationregarding UK visa requirements see page 23.
School regulations
School regulations are designed to ensure that thecourses function smoothly. Acceptance of andcompliance with these regulations, and with Englishlaw, are contractual obligations on the part of theparent, guardian or other person arranging thestudent's enrolment with Anglo-Continental.
It is essential that your son/daughter understands thathe/she must accept the regulations concerning ‘Conductand Discipline’ and ‘Permission to go out WithoutSupervision’ as agreed by the Parent/Guardian.
Failure to observe the requirements of conductdescribed here and in the ‘Student Handbook’ may result in the student being returned home before the end of the course, without compensation. Anglo-Continental reserves the right to alter the student’s travelarrangements.It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian toarrange for an adult to meet the student at the place ofarrival and at a time specified by Anglo-Continental.
Whenever a student is enrolled outside the age rangespecified for the course, the person enrolling thestudent accepts responsibility for any problems whichmay arise therefrom.
Cancellation or postponement of a courseA course is not transferable but may be cancelled orpostponed and full course fees will be refunded (exceptfor bank charges), provided that written notice isreceived by Anglo-Continental not less than four weeksbefore the scheduled date of course commencement. Inthe absence of such notice, or if less than four weeksnotice is received:
- in the case of cancellation, a fee of £ 500 is payablein lieu of notice;
- in the case of postponement, Anglo-Continentalreserves the right to levy a charge to coveradministration and accommodation costs incurred onthe student's behalf;
- should the application for a visa be refused, we willrefund any published fees paid in advance (afterdeduction of an administration charge of £ 50)provided that you send us a copy of the letter ofrefusal before the intended start date of the course.
Any additional charges for services provided by a thirdparty (such as Home Office CAS charges and courierservices) are not refundable.
Curtailment of a course
If a course is curtailed after commencement, no refundcan be given. Parents or guardians must arrangeinsurance against inability to attend or continue acourse for medical or compassionate reasons (see‘liability and insurance’).
Incorrect declaration
Anglo-Continental reserve the right to withdraw astudent from the course if an incorrect declaration hasbeen made or if information regarding a student’sability to participate in the course has not beendisclosed to us before course commencement. In thiscase, no refund can be made.
Accommodation
The fee for the first week in accommodation includes anon-refundable administration charge to cover the costof selection, reservation and administration.
Any request to change or leave homestayaccommodation must be made to Anglo-Continental atleast two weeks before the date of the proposed move,and approved before the change is made. Failing this,accommodation fees are payable in lieu of notice.
Accommodation fees continue to be payable for anyperiods of absence during the course.
It is essential that your son/daughter understands that:
a) he/she will be sharing accommodation with otherstudents and must observe the accepted standards ofcourtesy and consideration towards others;
b) he/she will be expected to make his/her own bed,help to keep the room tidy and leave bathrooms andtoilets clean for other users;
c) he/she must observe the bedtimes stated by thehomestay family - normally not later than 22.30 hours.
Supervised door-to-door car service
The supervised door-to-door car service is compulsoryfor students aged 10 - 12 years and is included in theaccommodation fees. This service is not available forstudents aged 16 or over on the Vacation Programme.
Anglo-Continental car transfer services
Your son/daughter is allowed two hours’ waiting timefrom the advised arrival time, free of charge. If thistime is exceeded, a further two hours waiting time willbe charged in accordance with the published tariff.
Photography, film, sound recordings andwritten work
During our courses we sometimes take photographs, filmfootage and sound recordings, some of which may beincorporated into items such as, but not limited to, futurepublicity material, tests and educational materials. Wemay also wish to use examples of your son/daughter’swritten work. If you do not wish your son/daughter toparticipate in any of these items, please advise Anglo-Continental in writing before the start of the course,otherwise it is understood that you have unreservedlygiven your consent for these to be used.
Liability and insurance
Anglo-Continental will not be liable for any loss,damage, illness or injury to persons or propertyhowever caused, except where such liability is imposedby statute. Anglo-Continental will also not be heldresponsible for any delay in scheduled services of thirdparty companies, or if any service cannot be providedas specified. Any complaints, liabilities, losses ordamages arising should be submitted to the third partycompany concerned. It is the parent's or guardian'sresponsibility to take out personal insurance against allsuch risks, including inability to attend or continue acourse and for the payment of medical expenses.
Young Learners Declaration Form
Anglo-Continental must receive a completed YoungLearners Declaration Form before your son/daughtercommences his/her course. This form providesessential emergency contact information. In theabsence of this form, if an emergency situation arises,Anglo-Continental will make the best judgement on anyaction which needs to be taken based on professionaladvice available at the time of the emergency.
Force majeure
It shall be a fundamental condition of the contractbetween the parent/guardian and Anglo-Continental orits Agents that neither Anglo-Continental nor its Agentsshall be in any way liable to the student, parents orguardians in the event of any service contracted to besupplied by them becoming impossible to supply byreason of industrial dispute or other cause outside theircontrol.
Data protection
To ensure that the course at Anglo-Continental meetsyour requirements we and, if appropriate, the Anglo-Continental Agent in your own country will need to usethe information you provide (such as yourson/daughter’s personal data and details of anyspecial requirements) in order to process the enrolment.
We must pass this information on to those involved inproviding your son/daughter with services relating tohis/her stay at Anglo-Continental, such as thereservation of accommodation and transfer services.The information may also be provided, if required, tosecurity or credit-checking organisations, customs andthe Home Office as required by English law.
Please note that where your son/daughter’s informationis held by an Anglo-Continental Agent, it will be subjectto your Agent’s own data protection policy and yourcountry’s national law.
Validity of conditions
These Conditions of enrolment are valid from 1 January2015 and are subject to English law. The Englishlanguage version is legally binding in all cases.
Anglo-Continental reserves the right to waive or adjustthe specifications of a course, which may include agelimits, without prior notification.

It is your responsibility to ensure that your son/daughter applies for and maintains the correct typeof immigration status to allow him/her to study atAnglo-Continental for the entire period of his/hercourse(s). You must ensure that all details on his/herconfirmation documents (including the visa letter)issued by Anglo-Continental are correct beforehe/she applies for his/her visa. Anglo-Continentalcannot be held liable for any errors that occurduring the visa application process. We stronglyrecommend that you send a scanned copy of yourson/daughter’s visa to us to check prior to his/herdeparture to the UK.
Refund guaranteeShould the application for a visa be refused, wewill refund any published fees paid by you (afterdeduction of an administration charge of £ 50)provided that you send us a copy of the letter ofrefusal before the intended start date of the course.
Any additional charges for services provided bya third party (such as courier services) are notcovered by this guarantee.
