Juvenile and Probate Courthouse Juvenile and Probate Courthouse The Juvenile and Probate Courthouse The Juvenile amd Probate Courthouse (JC), along with the Juvenile Justice Complex, is one of two justice facilities located along Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard. The JC includes two juvenile dependency courtrooms, two juvenile delinquency courtrooms, one Probate courtroom and one general trial courtroom. The JC also houses staff from the offices of the County Counsel, District Attorney, Human Services Agency, Public Defender, and Sheriff, relating to juvenile. Adjacent to the JC is Probation’s Juvenile Detention Facility. This 420-bed detention commitment facility was officially named after Judge Steven Z. Perren by the Board of Supervisors in recognitino of his strong effors to bring the project to fruition. The Juvenile and Probate Courthouse along with the Juvenile Detention Facility brings courtrooms, classrooms, counseling services, administrative offices and detention facility to one locatino, and has significantl changed juvenile justice in Ventura County. The Superior Court Clerk’s Office processes filings relating to juvenile delinquency, dependency, adoptions, probate and guardianships. Payments for traffic citations may also be made at the clerk’s office. JUVENILE HEARINGS SUPERIOR COURT CLERK’S OFFICE Probate and matters relating to guardianships of the estate are heard in Courtroom J6. All probate and guardianship filings are done in Room 122. Tentative Rulings may be viewed on the court’s website. PROBATE The Family Resource Center provides self-represented litigants with the opportunity to obtain and complete court forms; conduct research; attend workshops; and read self-help manuals. It is staffed by bilingual self-help assistants but attorneys are not on-site except for workshops. Visit the court’s website for hours and more information. FAMILY RESOURCES SELF-HELP CENTER Juvenile matters are confidential and proceedings are not open to the public. Juvenile records are confidential and can only be viewed by specific parties and agencies or by order of the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Court. Due to the confidentiality of juvenile records, information cannot be given out over the telephone. CHILDREN’S WAITING ROOM First Floor, Room 108 First Floor, Room 122 Second Floor, Room 206 The Children’s Waiting Room is a drop-in service designed to provide a supervised environment in which parents may leave their children, ages 2 ½ (must be potty trained) to 14, while conducting court business. The Hall of Justice location has extended hours. Please visit the court’s website for more information.
