Fans often sing their club anthem at matches to encourage their team. English Vocabulary: 1. Example: booing Booing is when fans shout the word boo. This word doesn’t really mean anything, but is used to express unhappiness. The players don’t like it when their fans boo them. English Vocabulary: 2. Example: chanting When the fans all say the same words or  phrases over and over again, this is called chanting. Fans often chant their club name or the name of a player. English Vocabulary: 3. Example: cheering When fans are happy and they shout, this is cheering. Fans usually don’t cheer real words. They cheer by shouting “yay” or “woo” or even “woohoo”. English Vocabulary: 4. Example: clapping Clapping is when fans hit their hands together to make a loud noise to show that they are happy and their appreciation. English Vocabulary: 5. Example: waving When fans are celebrating or want to show their support, they sometimes wave their hands. Waving is normally used to get  someone’s attention or say goodbye. English Vocabulary: 10. Example: singing When fans get together, one way they show  support for their team is by singing. There are lots of club songs that fans like to sing together. English Vocabulary: 7. Example: spectator  A spectator is someone who watches a sports event like a football match. English Vocabulary: 8. team colours The colours that a club plays in are called the team colours. Fans often wear clothes that are the team colours to show their support. English Vocabulary: 9. Example: face paint Some fans like to colour their faces with face  paint .
