Friends of Woodland - Third Annual Auction

Please save the date for our upcoming Third Annual Auction March 5th, more details to follow. This event helps to fund many of our Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) programs for our nearly 1,000 students! We encourage you to visit the businesses you already support and request a donation for our wonderful school. A donation form and list of suggestions will be in the Thursday folder. Woodland's Interactive Museum of Black History and Culture

Come See Woodland's Interactive Museum of Black History and Culture!

February 18th - March 12th

The NEW Museum Experience: The Museum of Black History and Culture is now all digital;therefore, teachers, students, and parents can interact with the presentations in a meaningful and relevant manner. All student projects have been saved in the Cloud and turned into QR codes. A QR scanner on any device can be used to access the information AT ANY TIME; therefore, teachers,students, and parents can choose a day and time that works best for their busy schedule. Some teachers will be sending small groups with iPads while others will be signing up for 30 minute blocks of time to do a teacher directed museum walk. Parents are also encouraged to stop by and view the Interactive Museum. Please note that students cannot be pulled from class in order to go through the museum with their parent or guardian; however, lunch time is an excellent opportunity for students and their parents or guardians to interact with the museum together. Thank you for your continued support to celebrate diversity at Woodland Elementary School!

Student Governance Council

Start of Parent Candidate Declaration Period Parents and guardians, are you looking for an opportunity to shape the strategic direction of your school? If so, you should consider running for an open seat on our School Governance Council. Interested parents and guardians must submit their Candidate Declaration Form by March 1st. Youth Technology Learning Center

Hey Parents, Need some creative ideas for your children this summer? Interested in helping your children learn more about the world of STEAM? Visit the Youth Technology Learning Center website at http://youthtechnologylc.com/. They are offering STEAM class all summer and are located close to our school on Roswell Rd. They have camps for ages 3-14 and their camps run May 31st - Aug. 5th.

Kids-Luv-Tennis Spring Registration is OPEN!

Exceptional Children's Week

Exceptional Children's Week

Exceptional Children's Week will be held February 29-March 4, 2016. We will highlight and celebrate the exceptional students who are such an important part of Woodland Elementary. This year's theme is Reach Up!

We will be collecting change for our Change for Champions campaign to raise money for Fulton County Schools Special Olympics. The campaign will begin on Monday, February 22 and will end on Friday, March 4. We will have collection jars around the school and in each classroom. We will be collecting during carpool, as well. Each student who contributes change to his classroom teacher will receive a free dress pass for Monday, February 29, 2016, Leap Day. Students are encouraged to wear backwards or inside out clothing to celebrate Leap Day. All money raised will stay in Fulton County Schools Special Olympics and will help to pay for registration fees, transportation, equipment, as well as funding our local events. We are excited, and we thank you for helping our Special Olympic Athletes right here at Woodland! Thank you, in advance, for your support. We appreciate your open heart and generous spirit!!!

TAG TESTING

TAG Testing will be February 16-19, 22, 23, 29, March 1-4. There will be no TAG classes during testing. Thank you for your flexibility during this time. 5th grade TAG will be in Tybee Island for a field trip Feb 24-26. Mrs. Smith

Parent/Community Spotlight

Eugenia McDowell is one of Parent Spotlights this week!! Ms. McDowell is always taking the initiative to help with bulletin boards and Thursday folders for Mr. Robertson's class!! This is a time consuming task that she willingly takes off the teacher's shoulders and helps out weekly. She also helps other teachers at Woodland by bringing in items from home for parties and volunteering her time at the party!! Thank you so much for all you do and we appreciate you at Woodland!! Yogeeta Awasthi is a wonderful asset to Woodland and we want to thank you for your time and effort volunteering! Ms. Awasthi has one child in Ms. Jeon's class and she helps tirelessly with many different classroom activities. We appreciate all you do and so glad your family is a part of Woodland!!
