However, the demand for modern facilities according to today’s standards has been fulfilled. Fort Sesfontein is an oasis in the Namibian wilderness. The exposed position of the Fort between Damaraland and Kaokoveld allows day trips to discover one of the last untouched landscapes. The distance to Windhoek is approx. 600 km. It can be reached by car on gravel roads in good conditions, for example from Kamanjab (233 km) on C40/C43 in approx. 3.5 hours.
