  • Email correspondence between Kevin Taylor and Martyn Evans: From: Evans, Martyn (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru) Sent: 11 October 2017 14:06 To: Taylor, Kevin (ESNR - ERA - Agriculture, Sustainable Development Division) Cc: Charlton, Karl (Cyfoeth Naturiol Cymru) Subject: New planting proposal at Nant Y Fuwch

    For awareness.

From: Evans, Martyn Sent: 11 October 2017 14:05 To: Rubin Irvine Cc: Driscoll Wendy (Staff Cymorth Aelod Cynulliad | Assembly Member Support Staff) Subject: RE: New planting proposal at Nant Y Fuwch

Dear Mr Irvine I hope this email finds you well. Please find attached an email I sent you a moment ago regarding the Environmental Impact Assessment. To clarify, every application under the Glastir Woodland Creation scheme requires an Environmental Impact Assessment (Forestry) opinion to assess whether consent is needed for a new planting proposal. Applications under the Glastir Woodland Creation scheme are sent for an EIA opinion once a final Glastir planting proposal in place. Please find more information in the attached email and on our website. You will note from previous discussions that Natural Resources Wales does not routinely contact neighbours directly to confirm their support of a new planting proposal. However, it is good practice for those proposing new woodlands to engage with neighbours, community councils and other local groups. We work with landowners and woodland planners to encourage and maximise this good practice, though the landowner and woodland planner is ultimately responsible for local stakeholder consultations. I am pleased to hear that the woodland planner has consulted with you and other neighbours and requested comments by 20

th October. Please could you send any comments directly

to the planner by this date, rather than my original date of Friday 13th October. In the attached email I suggest a rearranged site visit to enable the woodland planner to join us. I would be grateful for your thoughts on this matter. Kind regards, Martyn
