Pre-K Pink Distanc e Learning for the week of 3 / 30 - 4/3 Focus: Spring and all of its changes Monday YOUTUBE: Spring (Seasons) by Julie Murray https://youtu.be/FTQ8kZSRtbY Listening/ Art: After going to Youtube and having your child listen to the story Spring by Julie Murray have your child draw a picture about something they learned that happens during the spring season. Your child can use whatever art materials you have available. i.e: markers, crayons, water paint etc. Essential Questions: What happens in spring? What changes happen in spring? Tell me about what you made. Math: On a piece of paper graph the favorite color of family members. You can even make calls to family and friends outside your home and graph their favorite colors. Essential Questions: Ask children to count how many people liked each color. Ex: Gross Motor: COLOR HUNT place down colored paper and hide colored objects around the house or yard, such as legos or small toys that are well defined in color. Have your child go on a scavenger hunt to find these toys and sort them by color on the colored sheets. You could also as an option cut out various shapes and have them look for those and sort.

Monday

Listening/ Art: After going to Youtube and having your child listen to the story Spring by Julie Murray have your child draw a picture about something they learned that happens during the spring season. Art: Go on a walk or simply look out the window and have your child point out any spring change they see. Take a picture with your phone and then have your child use available materials to draw that spring change they saw.Essential Questions: What did you notice? How will you create what you saw? Tell me about what you are making.

Build: Utilize any materials you have at home to build a structure with, if blocks aren’t available. Using unusual materials to build may be more exciting to you child. Such as plastic cups, boxes or paper plates and tape. Be Creative!Essential Questions: What can we build? What can we use to make our structure? Tell me about what we are making.

Gross Motor: LINES OF TAPE tape lines to the floor to act as balance beams.

Math: Write numbers on paper plates or sheets of paper in twos and have your child use the memory to match numbers.Essential Questions: What number did you find? Can you show me ____ fingers? What number comes after___?

Literacy: NAME BINGO On a piece of paper draw boxes. Then write in only the letters that can be found in your child’s name. Call out the letters and have you child identify them by placing a dot cut out, pompom or whatever you have available on top of that letter.

Dramatic Play: EMPTY BOX. If available, provide an empty cardboard box big enough for your child to sit in. Invite your child to use their imagination to turn the box into something else. If desired, they could also decorate the box. Celebrate all of their ideas and engage in imaginative play with them around their ideas.Essential Questions: What and why did you create this out of the box? What will you use the box for? What else can you tell me about your creation?

Gross Motor: PUZZLE SCAVENGER HUNT Hide pieces to a already familiar puzzle around the house and have your child scavenge for them. As your child searches encourage them, give hints and have them put the puzzle together at the puzzle base. Friday

Art: After listening and watching the story Spring is here on Youtube encourage your child to create a spring work of art by collaging. Cut pieces of paper and allow your child to glue them to another piece of paper in efforts to create a spring master piece.

Sensory/ Science: SHAVING CREAM PLAYDOUGH 3 ingredient playdough: Food color, Cornstarch, Shaving cream. 1. In a large bowl combine 1 cup of shaving cream, 2 cups of cornstarch and stir to combine. 2. Use hands to knead together. 3. If dough is sticky add more cornstarch, if its crumbling add more shaving cream. 4. Separate dough equally and in spate bowls adds food coloring and mix in with a fork or utilize gloves. 5. Once color is mixed in add a few pinches of cornstarch and knead until color is in. Tips: Be sure to allow your child to do most of the steps, walking them through each step.

Gross Motor: KICK THE CUP Write letters, numbers, or shapes on plastic cups. Using a soft ball have your child kick it to knock over the cups then identify out loud what they knocked over.

Continued and ongoing:

Read to your child daily, allow them to turn the pages, finish sentences and even create alternate endings.

Invite your child to help you prepare a meal or snack. Count whenever you can. Engage in finger play songs such as: five little ducks, wheels on the bus.

~Conversation is key to any experiences your child has. It expands their vocabulary and prompts them to engage in a back and forth exchange.
