Focus Group For my Music Magazine

Some Research Collected

Looking at other music magazines available I have noticed that the genre I have chosen hasn’t got any specific competitors as there aren’t any with the same genre, they all seem to be aimed at; rock, indie, pop or RnB.My competitors for my magazine would probably be either indie or pop as my magazine is a mixture of the two.

One of the main things which seemed to vary between the magazines is how many photos were featured on the front cover. I think to make my magazine more appealing it may be a good idea to include more than just the main photo. However, I do understand why sometimes the magazines decide that they don’t need any other photos as the main singer is famous enough to attract people.

Looking at other music magazines I saw that all of them include interviews so I think that is something that I must include. I also saw in a few there are competitions advertised on the front to attract customers so I think that’s another thing to consider. I think in my magazine I will want to include a few gossip columns as this is also a great way to attract customers. Another thing I noticed was a few of the magazines have an ‘editor’s comment’ on the contents page, which I think would be a must in my magazine.
