Presidents Report
Hi, What a great outing to Woodlands and the Living
Legends. We had 16 people attend on a brisk but
otherwise very pleasant Winters Day. Look for some
of the images further into the newsletter.
The August is our AGM. It is still not too late if you
would like to consider helping out on the committee
in any shape or form. The roles are not arduous and
meetings can be a lot of fun.
We have several new initiatives coming up for the
balance of the year: The Stawell Weekend Getaway
and an exciting new opportunity for an exhibition in
August. Check out all the detail in the newsletter.
Further information will be available at club night.

Exhibition Photography by members of the Macedon Ranges Photo Club By John Spring ( eMail [email protected] phone 0409 861 876)
Our club has been invited to exhibit members framed photographs for sale at the MAD Gallery & Café
Lancefield between Friday 11 August to Thursday 7 Sept 2017. www.madgallery.com.au
This is a great presentation event for the club and members to display our best photography to the public, friends
and customers at MAD Gallery in Lancefield. The gallery organisers John & Gemma Nightingale have generously not
charged our club a venue fee but do require a 35% commission on any sales. One or two framed large photos From as
many MRPS members as possible are required so they can be hung (by wire droppers) from the MAD Gallery wall
display system.
A digital copy of the image(s) you intend to frame and enter into the exhibition is/are required to be registered with
John Spring (eMail to [email protected]) immediately. You proposed images(s)
entry eMail will be acknowledged and the necessary information and sale authority forms with be eMailed to you for
completion and return.
The framed photographs that you have registered plus ‘the completed paper work’ can be delivered to me at either
of the MRPS August meetings (Tuesday 1st or Monday 7th.) or by other special arrangement with me.
A small working bee of members is required at the MAD Gallery Lancefield 10am Friday morning August 11th to
unpack and assist with the setup and hanging. Can any members who can spare a few hours please let me know as
we would hope for 30 or more members images to display.
The official opening of the Exhibition will be held at the Gallery 2pm to 4pm Sunday August 13th. There will be a gold
coin entry to defray the costs of ‘nibbles’. Drinks will have to be purchased.
A short presentation and time for questions will be available this at this Tuesday night’s August AGM (busy) meeting.
We hope to have some advertising brochures and publicity cards for circulation by members to friends, your local
library and other related photo-businesses for publicising our Exhibition and the opening. A resume of this
information, paper work and photos of the Mad gallery will be uploaded to the club’s Web site.
Your questions can also be eMailed or just phone me.
This is a great opportunity to put your photography on display and perhaps make a sale or two.

reflects the interpretation of the photographer
Set Subject A subject set on the club syllabus and defined by the club
committee
August 2017 Page 10

night/workshops
Floral An image of any flower, plant, tree or fungus. It can be taken in-
studio or the natural environment.
Wildlife
An image of fauna excluding domesticated animals
Monochrome and
Colour
The same image: one conversion colour, one monochrome.
Monochrome: an image containing shades of only one colour
Weather The state of the atmosphere at a particular place and time as regards
heat, cloudiness, dryness, sunshine, wind, rain, etc. The ‘weather’ should
be the key subject matter not just the landscape!
Manipulate 3
images
Participants will be given three images from other club members.
You will manipulate/process/or leave alone these three images. The
aim is to ‘improve’ the overall look and mood of the three images
Hanging Rock Images must to be taken within the Hanging Rock precinct of from
outside but containing ‘the Rock’ Landscape, macro, people, etc.
can all be included as long as the image portrays the essence of the
Rock
‘In the style of a famous Photographer’
Club members can select the famous photographer of their choice.
The challenge will be to create an image that mimics the similar
style of that photographer. At presentation night the club member
will need to bring along an image (print, or in a book, or on the web,
etc.) of the selected photographers work – and their own creation
Book Cover Club members will select a book title and then photograph a
suitable book cover that reflects effectively the content of the book.
Books could be existing or created. A brief overview of the book
contents needs to be provided
City Marathon Images can be taken at the City Marathon outing or taken alone.
There will be a set number of topics that need to be shot during the
outing. This challenge is all about being able to ‘see’ – to find
particular images from a common location. Details will be provided
