    New Digital Audio Workstation inspired multi-track music and

    event editing interface

    The enhanced interface is a major contributor to the creation of superior game audio. A familiar pro

    audio interface will allow the creation of slicker, more professional results in a fraction of the time.

    A powerful multi-track event editor, giving you both flexibility and control.

    The streamlined interface cleans up your screen real estate, letting you focus solely on creating great audio. The new multi-track editor allows you

    to create more complex and varied events with minimal effort and less resources. Music and event editing has been merged and a new effect deck

    allows you to add Pro level effects and control the output of the entire event at a glance.

    1. All screens have a search

    bar in the top left for fast

    searching and (colour) tagging

    of events and busses.

    2. FMOD Studio now represents

    a timeline as well as

    parameters, so users can drop

    sounds into a time track with

    sample accurate positioning.This will also allow branching

    logic so the time cursor can

    jump between segments of the

    track for interactive music.

    3. FMODs event editor is totally

    redesigned to incorporate

    effect chains with automation

    curves for all controls. Sound

    definitions and mixer snapshot

    triggers are displayed as theboxes on the layers top track.

    4. Create custom 3d roll-off

    curves and ADSR envelopes

    can be added to sounds

    to create more dynamic

    environments.

    5. As in the mixer, effects can be

    added pre and post fader.

    6. The effect deck shows that

    modulators can be applied

    to a filter, so over time the

    lowpass filter cutoff frequency

    can oscillate automatically if

    so desired. These oscillators

    (or LFOs) can be applied toany control in the effect deck,

    and LFOs can even affect

    other LFOs for more complex

    interactions.

    7. Stereo vs 5.1 or 7.1 mixes

    can be set up depending

    on the platform. Panning is

    represented graphically and

    can handle any speaker mode

    or configuration. The run-timeengine will position the audio

    in the correct speakers at

    run-time.

    in realtime, while the game is

    running.

    Finally, professional 5.1 audio mastering comes to the games industry

    The new FMOD Studio mixer interface has been researched and designed to provide an experience similar to popular Digital Audio Workstation

    interfaces seen within the industry.

    This gives a sense of familiarity to the designer, and power to create mixes that reflect the moods within the game. Mastering and metering is now a

    breeze, as is creating mix states that can be triggered from within the game to totally change the environment in real-time.

    1. The new FMOD Studio mixer

    contains a familiar channel

    strip interface with busses,

    sends and returns, VCAs,

    effect chains, side-chaining,

    and mixer snapshots.

    2. The bus tree on the left closely

    follows the old category view

    in FMOD Designer.

    3. Each bus is represented by a

    channel strip and contains a

    volume fader, mute/solo and

    controls for sends.

    4. All strips are metered in

    realtime when connected to a

    game, so you can check your

    levels for each bus, and makesure they dont clip, or are at

    the right levels in comparison

    to the rest of the mix.

    bus with a controllable level

    or control a group of busses

    at once, adjusting their levels

    for a bus. Examples of other

    include a flanger (post fader),

    limiter pre fader; a range of

    FMOD effects, panners and

    modulators and pre- and post

    fader metering.
