FMM Institute Sarawak Branch was incorporated as a separate company of theFederationofMalaysianManufacturers(FMM)onJanuary12,1999.Thiseffortwasspecifically toexpandandfocuson its training functions, in linewiththeobjectivesofFMMtodevelopthepotentialsandenhancetheskillsofpersonnelateverylevelintheindustry.Thiswillcreateapoolofmanpowertrainedinallaspectsofindustrialskillsandmanagementcapabilitiestofacethechallengesasthecountrymovesintothestatusofanindustrialisednation.
FMM InstituteSarawak Branchoffersawiderangeoffunctionaltrainingprogrammesto cater to thediverseneedsof themanufacturing sector. Continuingprofessionaleducationprovidestheopportunityfortheworkingpersonneltogainthenecessaryqualifications to upgrade themselves both professionally as well as for self-development.ThisopportunityismadepossiblethroughFMMInstitute’sCertificateprogrammesinselectedareasofindustrialandmanagementskills.

Efforts are ongoing to offer Degree andMasters level programmesspeciallydesignedtomeetthetrainingneedsofthemanufacturers.

Training SchemesHuman Resource Development Fund (HRDF)EmployerswhoareregisteredwithPembangunanSumberManusiaBerhad(PSMB)areeligiblefortraininggrantsthroughthevariousschemesavailableundertheHRDF.Theschemesareasfollows:
• SBL SchemeEmployers can claim reimbursement from HRDF upon completionof programme. However, approval from PSMB is required prior to commencement of programme by completing the SBL online application form. Traininggrantscanbeconsideredforalltypesoftrainingprogrammes(both in-house and external) for the retraining and skills upgrading ofemployeesrelevanttotheneedsofemployers.
• SBL-KHAS SchemeFMMInstitutewillclaimthecoursefeedirectlyfromtheemployer’saccountwithHRDF.However,approval from PSMB is required prior to commencement of programme by completing the SBL-KHAS online application form. Employers must submit Form PSMB/SBL-KHAS/T2/09 to FMM Institute prior to commencement of programme.
