Chiksan Swivel Joint Styles
Chiksan High-PressureSwivel Joint
Chiksan swivel joints are metal pipefittings with integral ball-bearing swivels.
These rugged fittings come in 3/8- to 12-inch
sizes and can handle cold working pressuresup to 20,000 psi. Chiksan swivel joints are
available for sour gas services at cold working
pressures up to 15,000 psi.
Recommended serviceHydraulic control lines, mud lines, rotary line
connections, BOP lines, test lines, water lines,
offshore wellhead connections, transfer lines,
temporary flow lines, discharge lines,
auxiliary flow lines, acidizing, test lines,
cementing and circulating hoses, choke-and-
kill lines, and other general-service oilfield
applications.
Features & Benefits
Streamline bore minimizes flow restric-
tions: Smooth, round bore design minimizes
turbulence and pressure drop. Longsweep
swivel joints have extra-long radius elbows
for even better flow characteristics.
Bearings key to rotation, strength:
To assure long, dependable service, FMC
swivel joints are matched to load capacitiesand service conditions. All ball races are
either flame hardened, carburized and
hardened, or snap-in stainless steel.
Pressure-tight seals protect bearings from
line fluid:Ball races and bearings are
protected from line fluid throughout the stated
pressure range, including vacuum and suction
service.
Field repairable:Only occasional light
greasing is required to keep Chiksan swivel
joints on the job. If packing, bearings, or ball
plugs should need replacing, easy-to-use field
repair kits are available.
Widest selection in the oilfield:Eight
Chiksan styles or configurations are available
from stock. These styles can be combined in a
variety of ways to suit any installation. End

Features & Benefits
Stepped ball race design: A patent
pending stepped ball race design signifi-
cantly increases bending and axial load
capacities for greater strength, safety, and life.
Additionally, the stepped design adds
considerable wall thickness under the maleball races to increase erosion allowance.
Patented Teflon seal: FMCs world proven
Straight-Bore Teflon* Seal (SBTS) provides
unsurpassed sealability and lasts up to five
times longer than elastomer seals. The
SBTS is compatible with all known oilfield
fluids from vacuum to 20,000 psi, -50F to
300F (-46C to 149C) and is impervious
to chemical attack and explosive gas
decompression.
Advanced material selection: The TripleStep
swivel joint is manufactured from forged alloy
steel with a closely controlled, proprietary
chemical composition and heat treatment to
assure superior toughness, ductility, case
depth, case hardness, and core strength with
no increase in size or weight.
Eliminates routine maintenance: An
improved environmental seal reduces the
potential for corrosion in the ball race area.
The integrity of the seal and the use of a high-
performance grease during initial assemblyeliminates the need for periodic greasing.

FMC Swing Joint
The Swing Joint disassembles into only four
loose components, including the seal. Because
there are no internal threads in the Swing Joint
housing, disassembly is much easier than withother journal bearing swivels.
FMCSwing Joints are flexible pipefittings for high-pressure, high-temperature
flowline and well testing applications. Swing
Joints are available for critical serviceapplications in 2- and 3-inch nominal sizes
with Weco 602 and 1502 wing union ends and

and kill lines, well test lines, and other critical
service applications where flexible piping is
required to facilitate line layout and thermal
expansion.
Features & Benefits
Patented straight-bore Teflon* seal:The
heart of the Swing Joint is its proven, straight-
bore Teflon seal (SBTS). The seal is
mechanically and pressure-energized for
bubble-tight service from vacuum to full
working pressure. The SBTS outperforms
elastomer type seals 5:1 in actual tests.
-20F to 450F, vacuum to 20,000 psi:InAPI performance verification tests witnessed
by DNV, the Swing Joints SBTS qualified for
use at the unprecedented API temperature
range of -20F to 450F (-29C to 232C) and
working pressures from vacuum to 20,000 psi.
Consult factory for applications outside this
range.
Proprietary seal material resists sour fluids
and more: Unlike elastomer seals used in
journal bearing swivels, the Swing Joints
specially compounded Teflon seal material
maximizes resistance to sour gas and a wide
range of other oilfield fluids, reduces friction,
extends wear life, and eliminates explosive
decompression and thermal cycling problems.
Ease of maintenance second to none: The

weigh one-fifth to one-half the amount of
flanges and clamp-type connectors, have
smaller profiles, and can be made up five to
nine times faster.
Proven, reusable seal:The heart of the
Dynetor Connector is its straight-bore seal.
Available in metal (SBMS) or Teflon*
(SBTS), the Dynetors reusable seal is
mechanically and pressure energized for
bubble-tight service from vacuum to full
working pressure.
Integral power threads for fast make-up:
Dynetor Connectors use rugged Acme
power threads to engage or disengage the
mated piping ends. This provides a high-
strength, high-integrity connection.
Dynetor Connectors
Internal Acme power threadspull together hubs andengage the high-integritymetal-to-metalseal.
Serrated faces on hub endscome into powered contact toprevent accidental back-off.
Detachable floating nutsimplifies stabbing andminimizes alignment problems.

Makes up quicklyand easily withordinary pipe orspanner wrenches.
Detachable floating nuts: The nut floats
along the axis of the connector hub during
make-up and break-out. This feature elimi-
nates the need to power off the entire length
of the engaged thread, simplifies stabbing, and
eliminates bolt-hole alignment problems.

Dynetor seal technology raises performance
standards: -20F* to 450F, vacuum to 20,000 psi
The key to the Dynetor Connectors ability to handle extremeoilfield conditions is its radial seal which is permanently energized and
impervious to the widest range of oilfield corrosives. This patented,
specially compounded Teflon seal maximizes resistance to sour gas,
sour crude, and other oilfield fluids, eliminating explosive decompres-
sion, swelling, and deterioration. Dynetor premium-service seals easily
handle sour crude, sour gases, and other corrosives commonly encoun-
tered in drilling, production, and well servicing. These capabilities,
coupled with dramatic reductions in seal friction and wear, result in
significantly extended seal life and improve reliability across the
broadest range of applications.

available, ranging in size from 1- to 12-inches
with cold working pressures to 20,000 psi.All Weco unions are color coded for quick
identification. Materials meet ASTM and
AISI standards.
Features & Benefits
Positive sealing designs:Weco wing union
seals vary according to pressure and applica-
tion. All provide positive, pressure-tight
sealing.
Fast make-up and break-out:Three-lug nuts
and rugged self-locking Acme threads provide
fast make-up and break-out regardless of
position or space restrictions. No special tools
are required.
Interchangeable parts:All Weco parts of the
same size, pressure rating, and figure number
are interchangeable, making it easy to match
male and female subs that are frequently
made-up and broken-out.
Choice of end connections:Weco wing
unions are available with line pipe or tubingthreads, butt-weld or nonpressure seal end
connections.
Nonpressure SealConnection
The nonpressure seal option is especially
designed for abrasive, high-pressure services
where welded connections are undesirable.
This design provides strong, permanent end
connections without butt welding. The union
ends are shop assembled to pipe or tubing. An
epoxy thread-locking compound is used tosecure the connection. All threads are isolated
from the line fluid, and the smooth bore
assures minimum turbulence, decreases
washouts, and reduces chemical, acid, sand, or
cement build-up around the pipe ends.
Connecting threads are API round tubing
threads for extra strength. Available in
Figures 602, 1002, and 1502.

Weco Butterfly Valves, Operators & Actuators
Weco butterfly valves provide dependableon/off and throttling services from absolute
vacuum to 175 psi cold working pressure.
These economical valves are available fromstock in 2- through 24-inch sizes. Wafer,
notched, and lug-type body styles meet ASTM
and AISI standards. All sizes and styles can be
equipped with Weco operators or actuators.
Recommended ServiceTrims and materials available for any applica-
tion where one-quarter turn, low-pressure
valves can be used. Models are available for
high-pressure and abrasive-service applications.
Features & BenefitsValve body is pressure containing compo-
nent:Weco butterfly valves feature a resilient
seat with two-piece hard phenolic back-up.
This design allows the seat to expand while
under pressure, making the valve body the
pressure containing component.
No flange gaskets required:Ribbed seat face
eliminates flange gaskets, insuring leak-proof
installation.
Triple seal design:FMCs triple seal design
(see color illustration) provides three com-
pletely independent seals to isolate the stem
from line fluid.
Weco dual stem advantage:A dual stem with
upper and lower tangential pins and broached
hex drive provide positive disc movement
without in line pins, screws, or bolts. This
design keeps all stem parts out of the flow path
for greater flow efficiency.
Choice of operators and actuators:
Wecobutterfly valves can be equipped with standard
and throttling handles, gear operators, chain-
wheel operators, and Weco pneumatic and
vane-type actuators.
High-pressure models:FMC offers Weco
butterfly valves for high-pressure applications
to 285 psi. These valves eliminate the need for
exotic high-performance valves in many
services.

Weco Plug Valves, Operators & Actuators
Weco plug valves are reliable, quarter-turnvalves designed for standard and sour gas
services to 20,000 psi cold working pressure.
These rugged valves range in size from 1 to 4inches and come with threaded, Weco wing
union, or Dynetor connector ends.
Recommended ServiceCementing, fracturing, acidizing, and other
high-pressure lines which handle slurries,
abrasives, drilling muds, chemicals, and other
similar products.
NOTE: Only genuine FMC replacement parts are
recommended for use in FMC plug valves.
Model DR Plug Valves
Floating segments insure positive seal:Dual
seal segments float slightly to offset possible
micro-expansion of the valve body and insure
a positive seal in extreme high-pressure
applications.
Easy operation under pressure:The
cylindrical plug fits between a set of seal and
side segments to prevent the plug from
sticking to the valve body for easy operation
under pressure.
Complete in-line maintenance:Valve can be
rebuilt in-line by replacing the plug, segments,
and seal rings.
Choice of operators, actuators:Gear
operators, pneumatic actuators, and hydraulic
actuators are available.
Model ULT Plug Valves
Two-piece floating plug/stem:FMCsproprietary floating plug and stem uniformly
distribute load against the downstream seat to
improve seal-ability and reduce plug wear.
Exclusive seal design extends service life:
Seal design forces line fluid between the plug/
seal interface when the valve is closed to limit
potential wear to replaceable components.
Bottom entry for fast, easy repair:The
Model ULT valve features bottom entry
design for fast, easy inspection and repair.
