This sudden pulling motion can result in loss of control of themachine which could injure the operator or bystanders. Avoid motions that could cause machineto cross from a smooth floor surface to a carpeted or rough texture floor surface Avoid motionsthat could allow the machine to come in contact with low obstacles, such as floor electricaloutlets, door stops or entry molding, etc.

WARNING: Water solutions or cleaning materials used with this type of machine can leave wet areas on thefloor surface. These areas can cause a dangerous condition for the operator or other persons.Always put CAUTION signs near the area being cleaned.

THE CONTROLS

The Start/Stop Levers. See figure 1.

The Start/Stop levers are under the handle grips.

The Interlock Switch. See figure 2.

The interlock switch is on the handle assembly underthe Start/Stop levers.

The Locking Lever. See figure 3.

The locking lever is on the bottom of the handleassembly at the back of the machine.

HOW TO PREPARE THE MACHINEFOR OPERATION

WARNING: Always remove the electrical plugfrom the electrical outlet beforeinstalling or removing a brush oraccessory.

To connect a brush or pad driver, follow this procedure:1. Put the handle in the vertical position.2. To fasten the handle, press down on the locking

lever.3. Put the handle on the floor.4. Put one foot on each side of the machine. See

figure 4.5. Fit the lugs on the bottom of the machine into the

openings in the brush.6. Turn the brush or accessory clockwise to lock it

into position.7. Turn the brush or accessory counterclockwise to

unlock and remove the brush or accessory.8. Lift the machine to the vertical position.

NOTE: To prevent damage to the brush or paddriver, remove the accessory while not in use.

To connect a solution tank, follow the instructionsgiven with the tank.

MANDOS

PALANCAS ARRANQUE/PARADA (Véase fig.1)

Estas palancas se encuentran debajo de los mangosde la tobera.

BLOQUEO DEL INTERRUPTOR DE SEGURIDAD(Véase fig. 2)

Se encuentra en el conjunto del mango debajo de lapalanca arranque/parada de derecha.

PALANCA DE BLOQUEO (Véase fig. 3)

Se encuentra debajo del conjunto de la tobera.

PREPARACION DE LA MAQUINAPARA TRABAJAR

AVISO : Desconecte siempre el enchufe de lacaja de enchufe conectada con lared antes de instalar o quitar eldisco o el cepillo.

Para instalar un cepillo o un portadisco, siga esteprocedimiento:

1. Coloque la tobera en posición vertical. 2. Para bloquear la tobera, empuje la palanca de

bloqueo (hacia abajo). 3. Coloque la tobera en el suelo. 4. “Cabalgando” sobre la máquina (Véase fig. 4) 5. inserte el arrastre central del cepillo sobre el

acoplamiento de la máquina. 6. Fije el cepillo (o el accesorio escogido)

girándolo en el sentido de las agujas del reloj. 7. Para quitar el cepillo (o el accesorio escogido)

desblóqueelo girándolo en el sentido contrariode las agujas del reloj, pues sáquelo.

8. Coloque de nuevo la máquina en posiciónvertical.

NOTA : Para evitar causar daños al cepillo o alportadisco, quite el accesorio antes de guardar lamáquina.

Para conectar un depósito de solución siga lasinstrucciones entregadas con el depósito.

COMMANDES

LEVIERS MARCHE/ARRET (Voir fig. 1)Ces leviers se trouvent en-dessous des poignées dutimon.

VERROUILLAGE DE L'LNTERRUPTEUR DESECURITE(Voir fig. 2)Il se trouve sur l’ensemble de la poignée, endessous du levier marche/arrêt de droite.

LEVIER DE VERROUILLAGE (Voir fig. 3)Il se trouve au bas de l’ensemble du timon.

PREPARATION DE LA MACHINEAVANT LA MISE EN SERVICE

AVERTISSEMENT: Débranchez toujours lafiche de la prise réseauavant de placer oud’enlever une brosse ou unaccessoire.

Pour monter une brosse ou un porte-disque,procéder comme suit:

1. Placer le timon en position verticale.2. Pour verrouiller le timon, presser le levier de

verrouillage (vers le bas)3. Placer le timon sur le sol.4. En “chevauchant” la machine (Voir fig. 4)5. insérer l’entraînement central de la brosse sur

l’accouplement de la machine.6. Fixer la brosse (ou l’accessoire choisi) en la

faisant pivoter dans le sens horlogique.7. Pour déposer la brosse (ou l’accessoire choisi),

la débloquer en la faisant pivoter dans le sensanti-horlogique, puis la retirer.

8. Redresser la machine en position verticale.

NOTE: Pour éviter d’endommager la brosse ou leporte-disque, enlever l’accessoire avantd’entreposer la machine.

Pour connecter un réservoir de solution, suivre lesinstructions fournies avec le réservoir.

120 VOLT MACHINESInstructions for connection to the power

supply and the electrical ground.

This product must be grounded. If it should malfunc-tion or breakdown, grounding provides a path of leastresistance for electric current to reduce the risk ofelectrical shock. This product is equipped with a cordhaving an equipment-grounding conductor and ground-ing plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropri-ate oulet that is properly installed and grounded inaccordance with all local codes and ordinances.

WARNING: Improper connection of theequipment-grounding conductor canresult in a risk of electric shock. HOW TO OPERATE THE MACHINE

WARNING: Machines can cause flammable materials andvapors to burn. Do not use this machine withor near matches, fuels, grain dust, solvents,thinners, or other flammable materials.

POSITION OF THE HANDLEFOR OPERATION

Lift the lever to unlock the handle. Lower the handle to the bestposition. Bend your arms and keep your back straight. Tofasten the handle, press down on the lever with your foot. Holdthe handle against your body for the best control. See figure 7.

How To Control The Machine

NOTE: Make sure you hold the handle with both hands.

The side to side movement of the machine is controlled byraising the handle and pressing down on the handle. To movethe machine to the left, press down on the handle slightly. Tomove the machine to the right, raise the handle slightly.

How To Start/Stop The Machine

WARNING: Never start a polisher when the handle is inthe vertical position.

The switch to start and stop the machine is activated by theinterlock switch and the levers under the handle grips. Seefigure 8. To start the machine, follow this procedure:

1. Lower the handle.2. Lock the handle in the best position for operation. See

figure 9.

WARNING: Control the safety interlock switchwith hands only.

NOTE: Make sure you hold the handle with both hands.3. Push the interlock switch, and apply pressure to the

levers.

NOTE: Hold the handles loosely for the best control of themachine. Too much movement makes the machine difficultto control.

WARNING: Water solutions or cleaning materials usedwith this type of machine can leave wet ar-eas on the floor surface. These areas cancause a dangerous condition for the opera-tor or other persons.

Always put CAUTION signs near the areabeing cleaned.

COLOCACION DE LA TOBERACUANDO TRABAJA

El interruptor de arranque/parada se opera empujando elbotón de cierre de seguridad y usando las palancassituadas debajo del mango de mando. (Véase fig. 8) Paraarrancar la máquina, siga este procedimiento :1. Baje la tobera.2. Bloquee la tobera en la posición de trabajo la más

confortable para trabajar. (Véase fig. 9).

POSITION DU TIMON PENDANT L’UTILISATIONPresser le levier pour libérer le timon. Pour mieux contrôler lamachine, maintenir la poignée près du corps. (Voir fig. 7).

Comment contrôler la machine

Mise en marche et arrêt de la machine

Lubrication

The Polisher is completely lubricated. The bearingsand gears in the gear unit have enough lubricant fortwo or three years of normal operation. All otherbearings are sealed and have enough lubricant forthe life of the machine.

Motor And Gears

Remove or blow dust and dirt from the motorfrequently.

Repairs

If repairs to the gear unit or motor are needed, do notdisassemble the gears and motor! Return the ma-chine to the nearest Clarke Service Branch or ClarkeAuthorized Service Center.

Maintenance Inspection

Return the machine to a Clarke Authorized Servicelocation every 12 months for maintenance inspec-tions.

Lever To Lock The Handle

The locking mechanism for the handle can becomeloose. Tighten the nut on the end of the cross link bolt.The pressure of the locking lever is correct when thehandle can be adjusted easily and fastened as needed.

Maintenance Of Brushes

Always remove the brush from the machine when notin use. Keep brushes in a cool, dry location. Heat candamage the wood and the bristles. Scrub brusheswith bassine fibers must be put in water for 16 hoursto replace moisture and give the bristles a longer life.

The start and stop switches are in the handle. If any part of theswitch is not operating, replace the part. If any part of theelectrical system of the machine is not operating or is dam-aged, replace the part. Make sure all connections are tight.Return the machine to a Clarke Service Branch or a ClarkeAuthorized Service Center for electrical repairs and testing.

MAINTENANCE OF THE MACHINE

WARNING:Maintenance must be done by au-thorized personnel only.

WARNING:Disconnect the electrical plug fromthe electrical outlet before doingany repairs or maintenance to themachine.

Clean your machine frequently. It will have longer lifeand need fewer repairs. Replace damaged or wornparts with the correct Clarke parts.

CAUTION: Keep all fasteners tight. Keep alladjustments according to specifi-cations.

Clarke® U.S. WARRANTYThis Clarke Industrial/Commercial Floor Product is warranted to be free from defects in materials and

workmanship under normal use and service for a period of five years from the date of purchase, whenoperated and maintained in accordance with Clarke's Maintenance and Operations Instructions.

The motor and gear unit of this product is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanshipfor an additional two years for a total of seven years from the date of purchase, provided it is inspected andcleaned at one-year intervals by an authorized Clarke repair station. Cost of the inspection and cleaning is theresponsibility of the purchaser. Failure to comply with the annual inspection and cleaning requirement willvoid the additional two years warranty on the motor and gear unit. In the event of a warranty claim on the motorand gear unit, proof of inspection and cleaning must be provided.

Clarke's liability under this warranty is limited to repair of the product and/or replacement of parts and isgiven to purchaser in lieu of all other remedies, including INCIDENTAL AND CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.

THERE ARE NO EXPRESS WARRANTIES OTHER THAN THOSE SPECIFIED HEREIN, THERE ARE NOWARRANTIES WHICH EXTEND BEYOND THE DESCRIPTION OF THE FACE HEREOF. NO WARRANTIES,INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, SHALL BE IMPLIED. A warrantyregistration card is provided with your Clarke floor machine. Return the card to assist Clarke in providing theperformance you expect from your new floor machine.

If a difficulty develops with the product, you should: (a) Contact the nearest authorized Clarke repair locationor contact the Clarke Service Operations Department, 2100 Highway 265, Springdale Arkansas 72764, for thenearest authorized Clarke repair location. Only these locations are authorized to make repairs to the productunder this warranty. (b) Return the product to the nearest Clarke repair location. Transportation charges to andfrom the repair location must be prepaid by the purchaser. Clarke will repair the product and/or replace anydefective parts without charge within a reasonable time after receipt of the product.
