The LPLeg summer school The Law and Politics of Legislation is funded with support from the European Commission (Lifelong Learning Programme, Erasmus Intensive Programme).

Grants covering tuition and certain travel and lodging costs are available to eligible participants enrolled in one of the partner universities (including incoming exchange students).

A limited number of seats is available for eligible students from non-partner universities (see fees below).

Central to the LPLeg summer school are questions concerning modern legislative theory and practice. More specifically this summer school aims to enhance:

1. Understanding of the types of formal and informal legislation within the EU and its member states;

2. Acquisition of skills relevant to legislative drafting, interpretation, and application;

3. Awareness of statutory interpretation theory and practice;

4. Awareness of the prevalent definition of legislative quality and its theoretical elements;

5. Understanding of pre legislative scrutiny theory and practice;

6. Understanding of post legislative scrutiny theory and practice;

7. Awareness of comparative analyses of these issues both amongst EU member states and between member state versus EU levels;

8. Awareness of the modern trends on legislation and regulation within Europe.
