Guidelines Workshop for Researchers and Promotores de Salud who Conduct Health Research with Latino Border Communities

Workshop Trainers: Marta Hernandez, Elba Quimby and Cruz Saenz Co-‐Facilitators: Anabel Canchola, K'Dawn Jackson and Silvia Sierra
This workshop will provide participants with culturally relevant principles and practices for the conduct of health research in US-‐Mexico border communities. Training is designed around “vignettes” that highlight ethical dilemmas, insights and best practices. We encourage existing teams of promotores, academic researchers and other community partners to attend the training together. Interested individuals are also welcome. The workshop will be conducted by bilingual trainers and upon completion, each participant will receive a copy of the guidelines in Spanish or English and a certificate of training. The workshop is free and includes a boxed lunch. Space is limited; please register by August 21, 2015 by sending an email to Ms. Anna Martin at [email protected]. Este taller es culturalmente apropiado para investigaciones de salud, en las comunidades fronterizas de Estados Unidos y México. Promotores de salud e investigadores se entrenan sobre lo que pertenece con los principios y prácticas de investigaciones de salud. El taller está diseñado alrededor de "viñetas" que ponen de relieve los dilemas éticos, ideas y mejores prácticas. Animamos a los equipos existentes de promotores, investigadores académicos y otros socios de la comunidad que participen juntos. Las personas independientes de equipos también son bienvenidos. Se ofrecen instrucciones bilingües y al finalizar el taller, cada participante recibirá una copia de las guías en español o inglés y un certificado de formación.
