Firebird Suite: Variation d L’oiseau de feu (1919 Version) by Igor Stravinsky This is a notoriously tricky flute excerpt. Note the key signature, and practice slowly, subdividing the 8th note. I would
rather hear this slowly and accurately than at tempo but messy!
Aus Liebe from St. Matthew Passion by J.S. Bach The Aus Liebe from the St. Matthew Passion is a beautiful duet for soprano and flute. Practice with recordings, and pay
attention to rhythms and where you breathe. The fermata at rehearsal A is only for the D.S. al Fine, so ignore it when
you play the excerpt for your audition. The one two measures before A is good both times.
Piccolo Piccolo auditions are optional, however, if you want to be considered for piccolo work in the ensembles, you must
prepare the following piccolo excerpt. Contact Dr. Occena ([email protected]) ahead of the auditions if
you need to borrow a school instrument.

carefully with your metronome and with recordings.
