Thursday – 28 May VIP Brunch with Keynote Speakers

Details below

Thursday – 28 May FCT – Day 3 First half Friday – 29 May FCT – Day 3 Second half Keynote Speaker 1: Alistair Cockburn Topic: Welcome to the Post-Agile World

In the 14 years since the Agile Manifesto was written, surely something has changed? It has. Learning to flip between Waterfall and Agile to pick up the benefits of each; paying to learn, in discreet and deliberate steps; learning to deliver less; the new self-improvement; learning to pivot and trim the tail. All of these are techniques that presuppose not only agility, but an automatic and nonchalant use of old-school agile techniques. In this keynote, Dr. Cockburn, co-author of the Agile Manifesto, will outline some of the behaviors found in top teams that have emerged in the last years.

Dr. Cockburn (pronounced Co-burn, the Scottish way) is an internationally renowned project witchdoctor and IT strategist, best known for:

§ Helping write the Agile Development Manifesto, § Describing Software development as a Cooperative

Game (discussion: Re: Cooperative game manifesto for software development),

§ Creating the oath of non-allegiance (discussion: Re: Oath of Non-Allegiance),

§ Finally, defining Use Cases (discussion: Re: Use cases); and,

§ Developing the initial response technique relaxation / massage form.

When not doing all that, he likes to travel, dance, dive, or sit underwater. See more on Alistair at: http://alistair.cockburn.us/

Keynote Speaker 2: Michael Vizdos, Topic: Focus. #deliver

Ken Schwaber has referred to him as an early pioneer of Agile. Michael has been in the industry for almost twenty-five years and is probably best known as the creator of the website ImplementingScrum; that site includes over one hundred comic strips and blog entries around the concept of “Chickens and Pigs” in Scrum (an agile framework). In this keynote Michael shows us how to embrace the new, shifting and creative economy using Focus. #deliver

Michael Vizdos is an:

• Entrepreneur; • Independent Certified Scrum Trainer; • Coach; and, Practitioner

He is based in Richmond, Virginia and travels internationally to teach both private and public classes. Michael does NOT spend full time on the road just teaching Scrum -- he implements it and inspires others around the world to do the same. In addition to mentoring and coaching agile teams on a regular basis. Michael speaks at conferences and maintains a blog with free comic strips located at ImplementingScrum.com. See more about Michael on MichaelVizdos.com.

Keynote Speaker 3: Ted Kallman Topic: Flow: Beyond Agile

Flow: Beyond Agile is the next iteration of the Unified Vision Framework that has been in use for over 20 years. It is a methodology agnostic leadership framework that has been licensed and used by dozens of companies both in Europe and the US to achieve remarkable results. It starts at the executive level and informs proper decision-making, including the smallest details at the task level. In this keynote, Ted will walk us through why your “why” is important. Team level tools and methods have succeeded by focusing on the “what” and “how.” But, enterprise decisions require a strong and clear “why.”

Ted works as an:

• Executive coach • Enterprise Agile consultant • Portfolio Management consultant • PMO consultant

For over 25 years he and his brother Andrew have been using a proprietary business agile framework that they have developed (FLOw: Beyond Agile and the Unified Vision Framework). Ted has trained hundreds of people in Scrum basics using the UVF as well as advanced Agile techniques to senior and executive-level teams in Europe, the USA and Canada. Ted co-authors a blog with his brother Andrew at: PMO Brothers See more about Ted on LinkedIn.

“Flow: Beyond Agile” is a Methodology Agnostic Leadership Framework FLOw: Beyond Agile (including the Unified Vision Framework) is not only methodology agnostic regarding the team, project, program and portfolio levels, but it is also a business agile leadership framework that will supercharge whatever framework / tool you are using anywhere in the enterprise:

FLOw’s Unified Vision Framework (i.e. the UVF) completes the picture for Agile Governance that exists just above the current portfolio, program, project, product, and team management certifications and trainings offered by PMI, Scrum Alliance, Scrum.org, etc. and that are primarily used in Technology and/or for scaling agile:

• Flow’s new UVF / Executive / Organization-wide leadership certifications:

o FLOw Certified Trainers o FLOw Certified Professionals

• Example Portfolio certifications:

o PfMP (PMI’s Portfolio Management Professional) o Etc.

• Example Program certifications:

o PgMP (PMI’s Program Management Professional) o SPSP (Scaled Professional Scrum for Practitioners)

Page 10: FLOw FCP, FCT and Agile Gov Gathering Stockholm May 2015...Agile Governance Day Agenda / Schedule for 27 May 2015! ... dozens of companies both in Europe and the US to achieve remarkable

  10

o SAFe SPC (Scaled Agile Framework Program Consultant) o Etc.

• Example Project / Team / Individual certifications:

o PMP (PMI’s Project Management Professional) o CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) o PSM (Professional Scrum Master) o CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner) o PSPO (Professional Scrum Product Owner) o CSP (Certified Scrum Professional) o Etc.

• Management training courses (non-certified) like:

o Management 3.0 (M3.0) o Etc.

There are currently almost 640,000 active PMPs and just over 300,000 CSMs, CSPOs and CSPs. Together, these represent a major portion of the professionals, world-wide, that we believe will benefit most from the leadership skills included in the FCP and FCT training / certifications. Kick-off weeks are planned for the following dates / locations:

• May 2015 – Stockholm, Sweden • September 2015 – New York City, NY, USA • October 2015 – London, UK • November 2015 – Grand Rapids, MI, USA

Who Should Attend the Agile Governance Day and Flow training / certification?

Flow Certification Requirements and Descriptions The following are the requirements and descriptions of the Flow Certified Professional and Flow Certified Trainer certifications.

FLOw Professional - FP FLOw Certified Professional - FCP (initial 2-day training course)

• Purpose

o A Flow Professional (FP) / Flow Certified Professional (FCP) is able to successfully lead, coach and mentor teams, projects, programs and portfolios in delivering the vision and strategy for the product, service or result on which they are working

o A FP / FCP has experience and training that spans the project, program and portfolio management continuum:

§ Since Flow: Beyond Agile spans the continuum, an FP /

FCP can work with any team, project, program or portfolio, regardless of the methodology employed at the team level

§ An FP / FCP can lead and facilitate both synchronous and asynchronous organizations and provides valuable trends with which the C-suite and Board of Directors can make long-term plans, create the road maps and prioritize the work for the entire enterprise

o A FP / FCP is methodology agnostic, pragmatic and is able to choose and profitably use the best framework, tool, methodology and/or technique that will increase the odds for a successful outcome for the product, service or result that will generate:

§ Increased revenues § Decreased costs § Mitigated or eliminated risk

• Minimum requirements for certification

Page 12: FLOw FCP, FCT and Agile Gov Gathering Stockholm May 2015...Agile Governance Day Agenda / Schedule for 27 May 2015! ... dozens of companies both in Europe and the US to achieve remarkable

  12

o For the Traditional/Waterfall end of the continuum, an FP / FCP will have the equivalent experience and/or training that a PMP, Prince 2 or IPMA practitioner would have.

§ It is not a requirement that an FP / FCP is certified by one of the traditional organizations, but rather can demonstrate they have the comparable skill, training and experience required for earning a traditional certification.

o For the Agile/Scrum end of the continuum, an FP / FCP will have the equivalent experience and/or training that a CSP, CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or corresponding Agile certification, would have.

§ It is not a requirement that an FP / FCP is certified by one of the Agile organizations, but rather can demonstrate they have the comparable skill, training and experience required for earning a Agile / Scrum (or similar) certification.

o An FP / FCP will also be able to demonstrate skill and experience working with the program and/or portfolio levels in an organization for at least three years

§ This experience can also counted from working at the team / project level (i.e. obtained while working with teams and/or projects that were part of larger programs and/or portfolios)

§ It is not a requirement that an FP / FCP is certified by one of the Traditional or Agile organizations at the Program or Portfolio levels, but rather can demonstrate they have the comparable skill, training and experience required for earning a similar certification. For example:

• An FP / FCP will have PMO, PPM and/or Portfolio level experience or training, preferably in an Agile way of working

• It would be good if an FP / FCP has experience with (or training for) leading SAFe or is an SPC (SAFe Program Consultant) or has experience with (or training for) the Agile PgM designation from the DSDM consortium, etc.

• Also, experience with (or training for) PgMP, PfMP, MSP, etc. from the traditional end of the continuum are also part of the tool kit with which an FP / FCP is comfortable working and experience and/or training in those are also accepted for the FP / FCP designation

Note: Individuals that would like to attend the FCP training, but that aren’t interested in doing the FCP certification, are also

Page 13: FLOw FCP, FCT and Agile Gov Gathering Stockholm May 2015...Agile Governance Day Agenda / Schedule for 27 May 2015! ... dozens of companies both in Europe and the US to achieve remarkable

  13

welcome to attend the FPC 2-day course (at a lower price, see table below), but opt-out from doing the certification. And, for now, there is no test included in this certification, but that may be included in the future – a University in the US is doing the certification and is creating a Masters / MBA-level course in Flow, so a test will be likely included in future. The FCP certification is currently granted upon successful completion of the FP / FCP 2-day training (and, in the event a test is put in place in the future, all participants completing the certification in the current format will not be required to take the test in the future - as long as they keep their certification current).

• Description

o Flow’s Unified Vision Framework is a proprietary set of leadership tools that is methodology agnostic (so, it doesn’t matter what other tools are used at the team, project, program or portfolio levels). It is used in the highest levels of the company to transform and shape the culture of the organization.

o It is required that an individual has the demonstrated leadership potential to work with, train, guide and coach Boards of Directors, the C-Suite, Executives, Directors, Managers in becoming an Agile organization.

o A Flow Professional will have experience having worked with (or led) PMOs and/or Portfolios (or equivalent). They may also have experience working with tools for scaling agile (primarily used to scale Agile inside technology departments/compartments in organizations)

o Becoming a Flow Certified Professional ensures an organization that the practitioner has achieved an appropriate level of skill and experience to lead Agile transformations in all areas of an enterprise, not just in the technology area.

  14

FLOw Certified Trainer - FCT (1-day of additional training)

• Purpose o This certification is for those FCPs that are passionate about

training, coaching and mentoring other FCPs and FPs o If you qualified to do the FCP, then you already have the skill,

training and experience to be an FCT o For now, FCTs will have the right to train and certify other FPs

and FCPs o In the future, FCTs will also be able to train and certify other

FCTs, but as we get started, the Flow Leadership Team will do the training and certification of FCTs.

• Minimum requirements for this certification

o Have met the requirements and have completed the 2-day FCP

certification course o A demonstrated experience of leading and facilitating courses as

a trainer / instructor / mentor and/or Enterprise Coach for at least 2 years, or equivalent

o Lead five co-training sessions for both FCPs and FCTs with an experienced FCT

• Description o A Flow Certified Trainer is able to train both Flow Professionals

and Flow Certified Professionals and is able to work as a trainer, consultant, coach and mentor to organizations that want to become truly Agile at the top.

o Becoming a Flow Certified Trainer ensures an organization that the practitioner has achieved the highest level of skill and experience to train, coach, lead and mentor Agile transformations and Agile Governance in all areas of an enterprise, not just in the technology area.
