when i dug out my old lucky Stiff script from a box in my basement i really had no idea how consuming this project would become. I fell in love with the show in high school i was involved in a production of it at the edmonton Fringe Festival and wanted to share it with Canmore audiences. However, the planned spring run fell victim to cancellation due to circumstances beyond our control. By the

time we close it will have been almost a full year since we held our initial auditions. Staging a musical of this magnitude has definitely been a learning experience for everyone involved! i'm so grateful to my cast who have put so much work into this show, and while most of them returned from the spring some were unable to. i would like to recognize those people for their contributions - Brigitte Brophy, emma Yonge, my wife lauren, Pam milthorp, and norma lendi. This production has been a labour of love and I hope you enjoy it.

Spring production "Here on the Flight Path" a hilarious comedy by Norm Foster directed by Cathy Faille a play to make spirits soar

Set on adjoining balconies in a big city apartment building beneath the flight path of an airport, the play follows a lonesome writer John Cummings and his interactions with three women, Fay, angel, and gwen, who become his neighbors over a three year period. For John, the comings & goings of jet planes and his neighbors is sim-ply a metaphor for the way his life is flying by. Hilarious and, at times, touching.

Tonight’s theatrical treat, Lucky Stiff, is the first musical put on by The Pine Tree Players since its production of You’re a good man Charlie Brown, over eighteen years ago. Click onto our web site and check back over the list of plays put on during our thirty two years of com-munity theatre. You will find everything from serious

drama to light comedy, but only two musicals. Putting together a musical is a demanding undertaking for any type of theatre. Yet, here in Canmore we have found the talent to do that: actors who can sing, and singers who can act, a director brave enough to take it on and a crew able to design and construct the set, costumes and lighting to frame it all together. it’s been an exciting experience, calling for a large cast and attracting new and younger members to the PTP. We need this new blood, not just on the stage but also behind the scenes. So i urge you, if you feel the fun and the adventurous risks which were part of putting on lucky Stiff, then come and help us to create more magic. Simon was apart of the rosebud Theatre group in vulcan for one production, and a production in jr. high school. Sarah came to Canmore and The Pine Tree Players after a long break in acting in various community theatre productions in washington State. Her most memorable role was playing the Artful Dodger in "Oliver!” Sarah gained her Ba in Philosophy at western washington university, and has trained in acting, writing, and set design.Trevor goodFellow - Vinnie di ruzzio

emily is a student at lawrence grassi middle School. She moved to Canmore from Saskatoon in July of 2009. emily recently participated in a local production of Scrooge, and she has also performed in school plays, including Hamlet. She has sung in various venues and capacities since she was four years old. Performing with Pinetree Players has been a rewarding and fun experience.

niCole kowalewSki - annabel Glick nicole is new to Pine Tree Theatre & to Canmore. She moved to Canmore in September to begin a teaching position at music magic. She grew up near Toronto where she studied piano and voice lessons and sang in several choirs. nicole graduated from acadia university in nova Scotia with a Bachelor of music Therapy. nicole is very excited to be involved in the lucky Stiff production.

CandiSe mCmullin - doMinique du Monaco - solicitor

Brigitte was born on top of the world in Yellowknife, n.w.T in 1988. eventually she decided she was too cold and moved down to Canmore. Her first acting role was a grade 9 play, “Le Petit Prince.” Brigitte then disappeared from the theater scene for the next six years, much to the chagrin of her hysterical fans, and has now resurfaced to appear in “Almost Maine" & "Toronto Mississippi".

Joe morriS - Harry WitHerspoon

Joe is incredibly pleased to be a part of such a great show with a Canmore institution like the Pine Tree Players. a resident of Canmore for 8 years now, this is Joe’s first show with the Players but not his first in the Valley! As the artist in residence for the Cornerstone Theatre, Joe was recently seen playing all 33 characters in one Christmas Carol and will be returning this summer to his usual role as Pierre in the oh Canada eh? dinner Show.

doon wilkinS - luiGi/arab/tony Hendon

doon has recently retired from a highly acclaimed professional speaker/musical performance career in order to pursue his true calling of a poverty stricken actor. This is his first outing with Pine Tree players. Doon lives here in Canmore with his wife linda, numerous dogs and a cat named victor.

Since creating & co founding the Pine Tree Players in 1978 Bob has never lost the passion for community theatre in Canmore. For over 31 years Bob has worn many hats…but as the President, & Producer (over 40 productions) he has succeeded in bringing P.T.P. to the forefront of the arts & cultural community in Canmore. This year Bob was presented with the mayor’s award for arts & Culture in recognition of this valuable contribution to the community.

Pam is no stranger to the Pine Tree Players as she has acted in westray, drinking alone and almost maine. and sits on the board of representatives. although, This is her first adventure as a Stage manager. growing up in small town ontario, Pam, was never as fortunate as she is now getting the opportunity to work with such professional and talented people in this production of "lucky Stiff".

elizabeth retired from vancouver and moved to live in Canmore just over a year ago She directed Almost, Maine for The Pine Tree Players last April. She is enjoying her role as Stage manager for this production. For her, there is little to compare with the magic of seeing a play brought to life from the page to the stage. now, from the best seat in the house, she can see that transformation on a nightly basis!

JudY STeele - set desiGn

Judy has been designing sets for The Pine Tree Players since 2005 -“I’ll Be Back Before Midnight”, “Ned Durango Comes to Big Oak”, “The Night of January 16th”, “Westray”, “Sinners”, “On Golden Pond”, “Drinking Alone” and “Almost Maine”. Previously she designed set in the Cayman islands.and when not not creating our theatrical sets, she’s a political cartoonist, illustrator and graphic designer.

if it lights up or makes a sound it’s usually martin’s fault. Since the mid 1980’s martin has been lighting up the stage and making noise for Pine Tree show after show after show, and for that we are blessed and extremely grateful. when not hanging a show in the union Hall martin can be found working hard in the music department of The Banff Centre.
