FLIGHT RELEASE PROCEDURESfor Squadron Pilots – A PRIMER for Pilots new to WMIRS

•How to enter Pilot requested Flight Releases, in WMIRS, for A-9 Maintenance flights, including Crew Transport, B Missions and C Missions•How to close out the Release

LOG INTO WMIRS THRU CAP NTCKnow what Types of Missions you are
qualified for If in doubt, check with your Operations Officer
Open CURRENT MISSIONS to find Mission Number. If unsure, ask your Ops Officer
Enter “NV” in the FILTER BY WING Box, Notice various dates and types of missions
Look for appropriate Monthly “A” for Mx, or Monthly “B” for Mission Pilot (MP) Proficiency
Click on the “number” under AIR
For “C” Missions, look for the most recent “NV” “CORP MISC” (here 10/01/10)Click on the “number” under AIR
Make sure you are on the page you want to be because this is the Mission Number that will “populate” your Sortie Request-here an “A”
Here you see the Monthly “B” MissionNotice the little “ADD” box down on the lower
left
Here you see the “NV_(CORP) MISC” for “C” Missions
On the correct Mission Page – “A”, “B” or “NV_(CORP) MISC”,
click on the “ADD” box
This will bring you to the “ADD AIR SORTIE” Page
Then just fill in the boxes. Choose the FRO you want to Release you. Enter “DISCOUNT” in the OBJECTIVE Box
if that is planned & approved by your CO.
Here is the Add Air Sortie page filled in. Note “DISCOUNT” in
Objective Box
When info is done, hit ADD SORTIE. Info goes into WMIRS and your FRO is notified of your Pending Flight Release request
CALL YOUR FRO, DISCUSS “I AM SAFE”, RISK ANALYSIS, WX AND OTHER NEEDED INFO. CONFIRM THE FRO DID,
INDEED, RELEASE YOUR FLIGHT!
Upon return, fill out Aircraft Information File (AIF) accurately. Bring all numbers to your computer and
return to e-Flight Release in WMIRS
First, click on PILOTSThen click on MY FLIGHTS
Find your SORTIE and reopen it. Note the UPLOAD RECEIPT box at lower right. The RECEIPT needs to be uploaded within
24 hours, from your pdf scan - not a jpeg. You will enter closing numbers and info immediately, at lower
left.
Enter all your numbers ACCURATELY, Fuel to tenths. Make sure the proper info is in SORTIE FLOWN/NOT
FLOWN. Hit UPDATE. Here, the RECEIPT was uploaded already.
That is the process. Follow the Steps, enter accurate info & check

left
MY A/C PREFERENCESChoose 1, or more, A/C & Base
Hit SUBMIT, then Return to Calendar
Back to Calendar… click on “AIRCRAFT INFORMATION” at bottom right
WING A/C INFO & NEWSSHOWS CURRENT DISCREPANCIES
Return to Calendar… click on the NUMBER of the DATE you want to FLY
SCHEDULE THE A/C-Click Start Time on Zulu block. Choose appropriate Mission & # from Drop Down
Boxes, enter Est. Time and YES –here a “B-17”, hit SCHEDULE
(This would be for A and B Missions – C’s enter differently)
For Corporate “C” Missions enter at the bottom-Pilot’s Direct Sortie Entry for Non-mission Corporate Flying ADD
SORTIE
SCHEDULE THE A/C-Click Start Time on Zulu block. Choose appropriate information from Drop Down
Boxes, enter Est. Time and YES –here a “C-17”, hit SCHEDULE
(The “C” mission just has different info in drop boxes)
