Due to the popularity of the class, usually only juniors and seniors are enrolled. The course uses the Jeppesen- Sanderson Private Pilot materials. The ground school takes several field trips each year and brings in guest speakers. Trips are taken to the Potomac Consolidated TRACON, the ProJet Aviation Expo, and the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. A Dell XPS gaming computer is used to run a flight simulator. The simulator is used to teach students concepts such as traffic pattern procedures, aerodynamics, and systems. Cost Price reflects flight time received in the Cessna 172 aircraft and is billed at a rate of $150 per dual flight hour and $110 per solo flight hour. Transportation is provided to and from the Front Royal-Warren County Airport. Questions? Contact Director of Flight Laura Abraham at [email protected].
