FORMAT DESCRIPTION step 1 Read Students read 3 pre-selected long essays or passages. Reading selections cover a range of topics that are of historic relevance, represent a paradigm shift in thinking, or discuss a significant contemporary issue. step 2 Analyze After reading, students engage in open discussion. An instructor then guides students on how to not only break down each reading selection for analysis but also analyze each selection in different ways. step 3 Write Each student then selects one of the three reading selections for analysis and proceeds to write a full-length essay that demonstrates clear and logical thinking and precise use of language.
