FLEETMATICS REVEAL FIELD APP
USER GUIDE
KEEP YOUR DRIVERS IN TOUCH WITH THE OFFICE AND
THEIR OWN PERFORMANCE
The Fleetmatics REVEAL Field App is designed to make life easier for your drivers and
technicians by leveraging their smartphone or mobile device as a tool to manage their
vehicle assignment, daily stops and performance against your company benchmarks.
This guide will take you through the steps needed by your administrator to enable the
field app for each driver and ensure the specific features you want to use are showing
on their devices. It also takes you through the screens that your drivers will see and how
they should operate the app.
FLEETMATICS REVEAL FIELD APP
ADMINISTRATIVE SET-UP IN REVEAL
Enabling the Field App Features in Your REVEAL Account
Driver App can be enabled by specific settings within the Account Preferences section of your
account. This will allow admin users to manage which of the key features your drivers will see
on the “Today” screen of the Field App (Vehicle Assignment, Stops, Scorecard). These can also
be turned on/off on the driver’s app under Display Settings.
Please note: this is controlled on an Account Level, it cannot be adjusted by driver.
You can manage the metrics that are displayed on your drivers’ Scorecards within the Admin
section’s Mobile Scorecard Management. The “Hero” metric will control what is displayed on
the “Today” screen under “Scorecard” shown below. This will also be at the top of the
Scorecard screen on the Field App.
Enabling the Field App for your Drivers
To allow access for a driver, select “Enable Mobile Access” on the Driver Modal as shown below.
This must be done for each driver that should have access to this app. Please note that on the
Mobile Options tab, you can select the “Email Password Reset” button to have a link sent to the
driver to reset their password.
USING THE REVEAL FIELD APP
Below are simple instructions to share with your drivers and technicians using the app.
Logging In
Drivers utilize the username and password set up in the admin steps. Your driver selects your account’s Region (North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific)
Drivers must accept the Terms and Conditions to proceed
The Field App will use the driver’s current GPS Location to check their proximity to vehicles
within your account
If GPS is turned off on the driver’s phone or tablet, it will prompt them to enable Location
Services
The Field App will check the driver’s history and nearby vehicles. It will then display a list of
nearby, currently and recently assigned vehicles
Assigning to a Vehicle
Based on comparing the GPS location of the driver and vehicles within your account, the Field
App will check for nearby vehicles up to 1,000 meters
If available, up to 10 vehicles will be displayed
If 500+ vehicles are in your Fleet, the app will not provide a list based on proximity (drivers
should search for their vehicle and manually assign themselves)
Vehicle Assignment Section
A driver can manually search for nearby, known or past assigned vehicles (Recent and
Nearby vehicles will be displayed)
Drivers can un-assign from a vehicle by selecting the red dot next to the vehicle name
Drivers can download your account’s vehicle list from REVEAL, which will allow them to
search for vehicles to assign to. The full list of your account’s vehicles will then be displayed
in this section.
If a driver travels 200 meters away from their assigned vehicle, a prompt will appear asking
if they want to stay connected to the vehicle
Drivers can retroactively assign themselves to a vehicle for any trip segment or specific
time in the past 24 hours if the driver is not near to their currently assigned vehicle or not
assigned to any vehicle. In these cases the driver will be presented with a list of other
vehicles to select, and the chance to backdate their assignment.
Please Note: there’s no audile reminder if the driver does not make a vehicle assignment.
Sending and Viewing Stops within REVEAL
The Field App receives stops that are sent from the Driver Dispatch window inside the Live
Map screen of REVEAL.
The Driver Dispatch window lets you create stops and reorder them on a driver by driver
basis
Visibility of the Driver Dispatch window can be controlled within the Admin section under
“Manage Roles and Permissions” in REVEAL (the Driver Dispatch window is located in the
Live Map section)
Users can import stops using the upload template, these can be uploaded on a driver
by driver basis (up to 1,000 stops at one time)
You can also create Work Orders and Stops manually (Work Orders can be created if
your account has a Work Order Integration in place)
Users can Edit, Delete or Close stops by selecting the downward facing arrow on the
right-hand side of the individual stop
Users cannot “drag and drop” Stops from one driver to another, but you can drag and
rearrange stops within an individual driver’s stop list (by selecting the bar on the left-
hand side of the stop and moving the stop up or down within the list)
You can choose to add or hide Columns of Data in the Driver Dispatch Window
Field App Stops are visible on a map within the Driver Dispatch Window’s Map View
Viewing and Navigating Stops Inside the Field App
Drivers can view stops and update the status of their stops within the Field App
When drivers receive stops on the Field App, they can update the status:
Drivers are able to “Complete”, “Refuse” or mark stops as “In Progress” by swiping left
across the stop. The “In Progress” status can be used when a driver first arrives to a
stop location, but the stop is not yet completed.
Stops displayed in the stops list will be categorized as follows:
Today- current stops with an expected start date of today, or no start date
Outstanding- current stops with an expected start date in the past
Tomorrow - current stops with an expected start date of the next day
Future stops beyond the next day are not displayed on the Field App
Drivers will have a limited, read-only view of their stop history in the History section
Drivers can receive Push Notifications 4 hours prior to the stop’s scheduled start time
Drivers can tap their stops to access further details. From here a driver can access:
Turn by Turn Navigation- drivers can get directions using the navigation app of
their choice
Map View- drivers are able to view their stops on the Map
Using the Driver Scorecard
Drivers can view their own performance metrics within the Scorecard section of the Field App
One metric will be selected as the “hero” metric, which is displayed on the Today page as
well as at the top of the Scorecard page
Drivers can tap on any metric to access more details including a leaderboard view of
themselves ranked against drivers in their primary group (this is anonymized for privacy
reasons)
The current week’s activity will be displayed for each of the metrics selected (Monday-Sunday)
A driver’s benchmarks are based on selections made within “My Fleetmatics” in REVEAL
Changing the Field App Settings
Drivers can view the following from the Settings section:
Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy
Download/Refresh the Vehicle List on the App
View Diagnostic Data (such as vehicle assignment, see below)
Upload Dropped Items- this would be used in the event that server calls from the App to the
Reveal backend had failed. A driver can manually push any changes to the server stored on the
Field App (vehicle assignment changes, stop updates or when we have a true offline/out of
coverage situation).
Adjust Display Settings, which enables drivers to select the items that they would like to display
on their Today page (Show Stops, Vehicle Assignment and Scorecard)
Reset Configuration- this will update changes made by users on REVEAL. For example, when a
user adds or removes scorecard metrics, changes the hero metric or turns app features
on/off. The app user does not need to log out and in again to see the effects of those changes.
