Rock Mayhem is a new magazine aimed at a target audience of males aged 16-19. The Majority of my readers are most likely to be male teenagers, this is because I have based my magazine design on the responses I got from the survey I created a few weeks ago. The main responses I got stated that the main thing that would make a magazine look like drivel would be the price & layout, so with this in mind I have decided to make my magazine quite cheap and with the use of simple yet decent colours; means that it could gather a much wider audience.

‘Rock Mayhem’ magazine wasn’t the original name, because of this issue I decided that the magazine was going to be called Rock Mayhem, this is because after researching the name I found out that their was already a magazine called ‘Mayhem’. As a result of this I decided it would be best to change the name to Rock Mayhem, this also would make it easier for the audience to establish that the magazine is about rock music. The font that my magazine name will be using is going to be ‘Ink in the meat’ this font is downloaded from a website called Dafont.com. The reason I decided to use this font is because overall it was the most eye-catching font after researching about other magazines I’ve found that the majority of them have quite attention-grabbing magazine names.

Pitch

This magazine will have a large photograph of the band as a part of the background but in the foreground it will have information about an interview with a famous band. Alongside this there will be information detailing about the upcoming gigs. It will also have reviews about new music that’s new to the scene. Another way the magazine will be catching the audiences attention is by the article; it will be very detailed with lots of information about the lives of musicians and how they rose to fame.

The layout is going to be quite simple with the front cover only having two images of two bands. The photographs that I will be using will be of the band members just stood together. It will be simple in style with pictures, there will be more images than text this is because from the research I gathered together I found that most rock magazines have more photographs than text.

The double page spread will be an interview with a famous band, it will be very detailed with the band discussing their brand new album and tour that will be coming up in the summer. The interview will be between 2-4 paragraphs long, it will also be supported by a background photograph of the band performing at a gig.

This font is known as Goudy Stout and it will be the font that I will be using for the titles on my magazine front cover.

These are four main colours that I will be using in my magazine. I will be using a band image for the background. I will be using Blue for the Price, Date & Issue Number title. Whereas for the Text, Titles and cover lines I will be using either red and white. Equally for the Main header I will be using black.
