1 OPENING SEQUENCE 1

C.U. A RECORD SPINS ON AN OLD TURNTABLE.

BBC RADIO DJ 1

So do you remember when music

came on those plastic discs we

called records?

BBC RADIO DJ 2

I do.

CUT TO

2 INT. RECORDING STUDIO 2

C.U. WRACK SHOT OF A BANK OF MOTORIZED FADERS MOVING.

BBC RADIO DJ 1

It was a dark age before tape,

CD’s, mp3’s and your bloody ipod.

X.C.U. A GUITAR JACK IS PLUGGED INTO AN AMP.

BBC RADIO DJ 2

Yeah, and if you wanted anything

even slightly obscure or rare,

you actually had to order from

the record company, and wait six

weeks for the thing to arrive.

It came all wrapped in plastic.

CUT IN VARIOUS C.U. SHOTS IN STUDIO - DESK - AMPS - DRUMS

- GUITAR - STUDIO RACKS - LIGHTS AND DISPLAYS

BBC RADIO DJ 1

Magic.

If you were lucky it was still in

one piece.

BBC RADIO DJ 2

And then you’d have your friends

round after school for the whole

week to listen to it over and

over again.

BBC RADIO DJ 1

I loved vinyl, I still do,

sometimes I wish it would make a

comeback... but then you can’t

just press a button and add it to

your itunes library, or download

it from a website.

With tape we unleashed a beast,

you could make a copy and give it

to your friend, and he could make

a copy, and granted, it sounded

crap by then but hey, it’s free

isn’t it?

(They laugh)

The radio DJ’s fade out.

3 INT. CAFE, BRIGHTON -- DAY 3

TREVOR LAWRENCE is sipping a cappuccino, downloading a new

track from Pirate Bay. He has his headphones on and is

moving his head to the rythm of some tune playing on his

ipod. At his side is a DJ bag of records.

He opens a new browser tab, and checks his email. He

receives one from Flame Records Inc. of London about a job

interview. This is the message he has been waiting for,

but the interview is in three hours.

His cellphone rings and he answers.

H.R. LADY

Hello, is this Mr. Lawrence?

TREVOR LAWRENCE

Yeah, it is.

Trevor starts to throw his things into his backpack.

H.R. LADY

I’m calling from Flame Records.

I’d like to thank you for sending

us your credentials. Mr.

Robertson would like to see you

today.

TREVOR LAWRENCE

Yeah... thanks, I just received

your mail.

H.R. LADY

So can I tell him to expect you?

Trevor checks his wristwatch.

TREVOR LAWRENCE

I’m on my way.

ground is swept up by the breeze. Katy takes a look at her

wrist watch

off the train from Brighton onto the platform. He stops to

check his watch before walking briskly towards the

Victoria Street exit.

7 INT. VICTORIA STATION, UNDERGROUND -- MOMENTS LATER 7

TREVOR LAWRENCE is almost tripping down the stairs. He

tries in vain to get the ticket reader to accept his

ticket and finally jumps over the turnstile and makes a

run for the Victoria Line as a couple guards make chase.

Trevor pushes his way through a group of tourists and the

guards loose sight of him in the sea of faces.

8 INT. VICTORIA UNDERGROUND, PLATFORM -- MOMENTS LATER 8

TREVOR LAWRENCE rounds the corner onto the platform,

glancing behind him for any sign of the guards. He’s safe.

The train approaches.

The elevator doors open and THREE SUITS carrying

They press the button for the top floor. The doors close.

We continue to hear the phone conversation.

LAWYER

I’m afraid so. We needed to sign

them today Jim, today was the day

and it’s fallen through for good

this time. They had a better

offer.

MR ROBERTSON

Shit.

LAWYER

Yes.

How much time do we have?

CUT TO

12 EXT. KENSINGTON GARDENS, BANDSTAND -- DAY 12

KATY ROBERTSON gently clears the leaves in front of her

with small shuffles of her feet. Hands in her pockets and

her face nuzzled into her warm scarf to keep warm, her

MR ROBERTSON

SMS message....Sorry Katy, not

going to make it this morning,

call you later.

The phone conversation continues:

LAWYER

Not long. I think the press have

got wind of it already.

KATY rolls her eyes and sighs, putting her phone back into

her pocket she briskly makes her way out of the bandstand

and across the park to Kensington high street.

We hear the conversation continuing.

MR ROBERTSON

Shit.

LAWYER

Ok. Well, if you can think of

anything, the shareholders aren’t

going to absorb this loss

anymore. We need to give them

something real, concrete, you

know?

MR ROBERTSON sighs.

LAWYER (cont’d)

I’ll call you later.

TREVOR LAWRENCE

(under his breath) Damn it!

Just take the bloody ticket!

Once again, the machine returns his ticket with a defiant
