Community project description:

The City of Dell Rapids is proposing to construct a new street from SD Highway 115 to the Fiegen Development Park. The new street will provide direct access off of SD Highway 115 and feed into the new development park. As constructed, the street will be a 9" PCC cross section, 41' wide with curb and gutter. The City of Dell Rapids has a purchase agreement in place for a 10 acre parcel in this 44 acre development and is negotiating with prospective developers on adjacent parcels. The construction of the project is being driven by the new business development which is planning to be operational in 2016. In 2014 the City of Dell Rapids invested one million dollars to extend a sewer line to this property in preparation of future industrial development.

The proposed street will directly serve Midwest Fresh Logistics LLC. The Dell Rapids Economic Development Corporation has a signed purchase agreement with the company for a 10 acre parcel within a new 44 acre Development Park. Midwest Fresh Logistics LLC. will invest $2.5 million with the construction of a 20,000 square foot warehouse structure. The company plans to consolidate and warehouse fresh produce for regional distribution beginning with 8 to 10 employees. This company has preliminary plans for an additional 40,000 square foot distribution facility and up to 25 additional employees. The proposed new street also opens up an additional 25 acres of property to the south of Quartzite Street for future industrial and commercial

development.

Benefit to Community:

The construction of a new street will create a new Industrial Park within the City of Dell Rapids. This will be the first industrial park in the community's history. The creation of an industrial park diversifies the community's economy beyond residential and commercial property tax base. The creation of 12 FT jobs and the investment of over $2.5 million by Midwest Fresh Logistics will anchor the industrial park and legitimize the area as a great place to locate future business.

As a result of the June 2015 w:indstonn, the Garretson City Council and Residents have been wor~:ing diligently to restore the beauty wl'lich welcanes our visitors and contributes to the reinstatement of the ccmnunity's pride. Many American Flags and brackets have been damaged. The Garretson American Legion and Auxiliary display several flags on Main Avenue to welcome visitors to Garretson for holidays and events. The first segment of the project would be to purchase approximately two dozen canplete flag sets. The second segment of the project would be to landscape around a large "Welcome to Garretson" rock which was donated to the carrnunity. The City will: need to provide a location for the rock, setting of the rock, and landscaping around the rock.


This project will greatly assi~t with the appeal that the Garretson Carmunity offers.. Many physical features of our beautiful city were destroyed on June 22 2015. These two segments of the project would greatly contribute to the appeara~ce of our city .which in turn would play a part in our growing tourism as well as entice people to make Garretson their home.

Community project description: The project consists of procuring land and constructing a "WELCOME TO LENNOX" sign on either Highway 44, west of Lennox or Highway 44, south of Lennox. A 'WELCOME TO LENNOX" sign has already been construction on Highway 17, north of Lennox. The three (3) "WELCOME TO LENNOX" signs are part of the Lennox Area Development Corporation's initiative to show visitors to our city that we are appreciative of their time with us.

XCEL ENERGY 2015 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT

The project for which the Marion Development Foundation (MDF) is seeking economic/ community development funding is land acquisition for housing and commercial development.

Project Description An individual property owner with land adjacent to the City of Marion has recently expressed a willingness to sell approximately eight (8) acres of land to the Marion Development Foundation. Given the challenges we are facing from rapid growth at metropolitan edges and declining rural populations, the MDF is pursuing this land acquisition opportunity, as it presents prospects for both housing and commercial developments. The funding received would be utilized to purchase land to be developed into lots for both housing and commercial purposes.

Community Benefits As Marion does not currently have any significant/substantial land opportunities for either a housing or commercial development, there is a defined need for and benefit to acquiring the land that perfectly borders both commercial and residential lots in Marion. By seizing this rare opportunity for growth, the MDF seeks to benefit the community by way of providing housing opportunities, thereby attracting new residents to Marion. Additionally, commercial development provides for job creation, as does the necessary land/lot development process and various construction phases. With this project, we are ultimately looking for a way to strengthen our economy, provide a better quality of life and build on local assets.
