The GSMA has published a Reference Architecture for IoT Big Data Ecosystem which recommends to mobile operators

FIWARE NGSIv2 should be supported by implementers delivering the IoT Big Data ecosystem

TM Forum, the global industry association for digital business, is working with FIWARE to deliver the key building blocks for enabling and connecting Smart City ecosystems.

TM Forum is supporting the FIWARE NGSI APIs for real-time access to context information in cities.

ETSI has announced the creation of a new Industry Specification Group on cross-sector Context Information Management (ISG CIM) for smart cities applications and beyond.

FIWARE NGSIv2 is the starting point for the CIM API to be specified

MoU Industrial Data Space and FIWARE Foundation

§ A MoU has been signed IDSA and FIWARE

§ The MoU establishes:• It is a common goal that a valid open source implementation of the IDS Architecture can be based

on FIWARE, compatible with FIWARE Architecture principles.

• FIWARE Foundation will work towards making sure that core FIWARE GEs can be integratedtogether to build a valid open source implementation of the IDS Architecture.

Use Case 1: Zero break-down / Zero defects manufacturing

§ Most manufacturing plants incorporate two types of machines in the production chain:• Milling machines, producing objects by means of using rotary cutters to remove material from a

workpiece of raw material• Coordinate-measuring machines (CMM), for measuring the physical geometrical characteristics

of manufactured objects in order to detect defects, etc.

Use Case 2: Powertrain predictive maintenance using StratioAutomotive Solution

A first system to be connected to the IDS Architecture based on FIWARE is a demonstrator of the commercial IoT platform from Stratio Automotive used for predictive maintenance of fleets.

Installing the Stratio Plug IoT device on a vehicle, a number of variables are monitored and predictive maintenance is performed (e.g. the engine will be overheated in 30 mins so it has to be revised). In our testbed this will be done for simulated private transport buses.

One or more cities and fleets will be connected to the testbed, exporting real/right-time information which will be valuable in improving algorithms for predictive maintenance
