Make sure your microphone or headset works well. One of the most common causes of poor accuracy is a low quality audio signal. If Dragon can’t hear well, how can it understand you?

A USB microphone or headset often improves your quality, especially if you have a low quality audio subsystem in your PC.

Need a new mic? Check out our hardware compatibility list.

Dragon will never recognize your friend Bob Blinkelzaket’s name. Same goes for company and product names that might not be in the dictionary. Dragon knows a lot of words, but it doesn’t know the ones that people keep inventing. You can add words to Dragon’s vocabulary one at a time, or have Dragon analyze your sent email folder or a document folder. Analyzing stuff you wrote is the best because Dragon will find the crazy words you use and will also learn your writing style. Check out the Vocabulary menu in Dragon for all these tools.

If Dragon makes a mistake, you need to tell it! Bad Dragon! How else will it learn? You can say “correct that” to fix the last thing that you said and in the latest versions of Dragon (version 12 or higher) you can simply type over the mistake and Dragon will learn from that too. Bad Dragon. Don’t let that happen again.

How does Dragon learn the special way that you speak? By running a super sophisticated accuracy tuning algorithm. It is so sophisticated that even your fancy new computer can’t do much else while Dragon is running accuracy tuning. That means you need to let Dragon take over your computer every once in a while to do some real deep thinking about its relationship with you. You can Launch Accuracy Tuning from Dragon’s Audio menu.
