The unit is not compatible with previous HW or SW versions of FIU 19E.

The installation of the Ethernet plug-in unit is allowed only to slot 2 of FIU 19Emain unit.

Ethernet Plug In Unit (EPIU) is used for transparent Ethernet bridging overmicrowave radio links. One FIU 19E C2.0 equipped with EPIU supports the useof one or two radios for Ethernet traffic. Radio links capacity (2x2M, 4x2M,8x2M or 16x2M) can be shared between E1 and Ethernet traffic with 2 Mbit/sgranularity.

Caution

Figure 12. Ethernet plug-in unit

The Ethernet plug-in unit is not compatible with equipment providing “Powerover Ethernet”.

Pins (4, 5, 7 and 8) on the Ethernet plug-in unit interfaces (ETH-1/ETH-2) are

terminated to improve noise margin.

There are two green LEDs on the EPIU front panel. These LEDs indicate trafficactivity and Ethernet link status for both Ethernet interfaces. Also, if FIU 19E isin reset status, then the Ethernet plug-in unit is initialised and LEDs will blink once to indicate that initialisation is done. The initialisation of EPIU will takeabout 20 seconds.

No light – Ethernet link status is down, Ethernet cable may be broken or theEthernet interface is disabled.

Continuous green – Ethernet link has been established and the interface is ready

to receive traffic. This is not indicating that the radio link is established correctly.

Blinking green – Indicates that the interface is receiving or transmitting Ethernetpackets, but it is not guaranteed that packets go through the radio link.

5.4 Flexbus plug-in unit

Negative input voltage is grounded in the plug-in unit. The plug-in unit requiresan external power supply, if positive grounding is used at the equipment station.

Power cable is included in the plug-in unit package. Note that this is not the samecable that is used with the main unit.

6. Commissioning

Issue 4-0 en Nokia Proprietary and Confidential

6. Commissioning

Starting point for commissioning is that the equipment has been installedaccording to the installation instructions.

Most of the commissioning tasks are carried out with Nokia Hopper Manager .For information on using the manager, see its Online Help. Help can be accessedby clicking Help→ Hopper Manager Help Topics on the menu.

6.1 Task list

Thefollowingorder is recommended for the commissioning of a network elementwith FIU 19E indoor unit:

1. Switch the power on.2. Connect the LMP cable between the PC and the indoor unit. Start Nokia

Hopper Manager.

3. Connect to the network element by clicking Manage→Connect Locally.Once connected, run the commissioning wizard by clicking Manage→Commission.

4. Fill in the basic settings in the wizard.

• Give the site information (optional).

• Select station type and operating mode.

• Set Flexbus (outdoor unit) capacities.• Set Q1 and LMP port baud rates and addresses, if Q1 is used for

DCN.

• Select the Q1 bus routing, if Q1 is used for DCN.

•  Nokia FlexiHopper OU: Set the transmit frequency and maximumtransmit power and switch on the Tx power.

•  Nokia MetroHopper OU: Give master/slave settings, temporary hopID, and channel selection method (manual/autosearch).

• Set installation information (optional) and the node clock.

5. Fine-align the antenna. When antennas at both ends of the hop have beenaligned, verify that the Rx-input level determined by the transmission

planning is met.

6. Make the cross-connections with the manager.

7. Make any additional settings:

• ALCQ

• Identification data

• Node IP address.

8. Reset the statistics and the error counters.

9. Monitor the hop for half an hour (or longer, if necessary).

10. If the signal quality is OK (unavailability time = 0) and there are nounexpected alarms, the commissioning is finished. At this point:

• Save a copy of the node to a file.

• Backup the IU and OU configurations.

• Run the commissioning Report from the manager.

• Export the alarm log to a file.

• Export the measurements log to a file.

• Export the statistics to a file.

• Close the connection to the node.

If there is any unavailability time during the monitoring, fix the possible problem

and repeat the monitoring.

6.2 LED indicators

Table 10. FIU 19E main LED in 1+0 mode

LED Situation

RED One or more data lines are not operating correctly. The fault can be

in indoor unit itself and/or in one or more outdoor units. The fault can

also be in far-end unit(s).

YELLOW The indoor unit and/or one or more outdoor units have active

alarm(s). The data is transmitted in this configuration, but may not be

transmitted in other configurations or if another failure occurs. The

overall performance capability is reduced. Active alarm(s) can also

be in far-end units.

GREEN Both terminals over this hop are operating normally and no alarms

are active. A blinking green LED indicates that there is a connection

to the node manager.
