800 LINCOLN ROADThe Art Center of South Florida is an education center that creates opportunities for artistic experimentation and encourages the exchange of ideas across cultures and artistic disciplines. The project enhances this by introducing the artist’s work to Lincoln Road, while also drawing pedestrians into an atmosphere of creativity and innovation. The gallery entrance blurs the line between exterior and interior, passerby and visitor, artist and viewer. The masses of studios hover above while from the outside they dissolve into a thin screen that allows for light and views to penetrate the interior. This screen wraps around main program areas, such as the studios, offices, and classrooms, and dissolves the monumental masses. This project is very efficient since it uses the minimum amount of space for the required program and allows for a more creative environment, where emphasis is ploaced on the creation and display of art in a light and inviting environment.
