Fitnesse- Introduction

FitNesse is an open source automated framework created for software

testing purposes.

FitNesse works by executing Wiki pages which call custom written Fixtures.

Fixtures are a bridge between the Wiki pages and the System Under Test

(SUT), which is the actual system to test.

These Fixtures can be written in many programming languages like Java, C#,

and Ruby

Whenever a Wiki test is executed, the Fixtures works by calling the System

Under Test (SUT) with the appropriate parameters, execute a piece of

business logic in the software system, and pass the results (if any) of the SUT

back to the Wiki front-end, which in turn will visually indicate if a test has

passed or not.

Existing fixtures in fitnesseTableAccumulationFixturePipe: This fixture creates a pipe delimited file in the

fitnesse server by taking an input file. Input file can be created in fitnesse by

Copying data from excel and pasting it in fitnesse page edit window.Clicking

Spreadsheet to FitNesse will convert copied spreadsheet content in to

FitNesse tables.

FtpFixture:This fixture takes destination server details, file name and path and

transfers the file created in fitnesse server to qa server path.

InformaticaFixture: This fixture gets the unix command line as input and executes

it in unix box.

NetezzaFixture: This fixture gets netezza server details as input and establishes

connection with netezza DB. If we pass the query as input ,this fixture will

run the SQL in DB and fitnesse will turn green if the query ran sucessfully.

Existing fixtures in fitnesseOracleFixture:This fixture gets oracle connection details as input and establishes

connection with oracle DB. If we pass the query as input ,this fixture will run

the SQL in oracle DB and fitnesse will turn green if the query ran sucessfully.

DB_Comparator: This fixture can be used to compare data from two different

databases in different servers. It gets database details and SQL as input and

extracts the data from DB to a flat file and file to file comparsion is done.

Fitnesse will turn green if data matches exactly. If there are differences,

fitnesse will turn red and we can view the mismtach results in the html link.

TwoDriverComparator:This fixture will compare data between two different

connections i.e netezza and oracle.
