The REPORTER The Hamilton County Soil and Wa- ter Conservation District (HCSWCD) recognized members of the communi- ty last week during its annual meeting at the county fairgrounds for their out- standing contributions to conservation in the county. The following awards were given out: Partner in Conservation, John Har- baugh; Friend of Conservation, Garrick Mallery; River Friendly Farmer Award, Charles Spartz; Outstanding Partners of Urban Conservation, Ann and Carl Bruhn. The Indiana Conservation Partner- ship also recognized the district with a District Showcase award at the meeting. The Partnership then awarded HCSWCD Board Chairman Rodney Rulon Supervi- sor of the Year. “We couldn’t do what we do with- out help from the community and several partners,” said Ginger Davis, HCSWCD Administrator. “Our office staff and board were also incredibly honored to be recognized state-wide for our efforts.” Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservaon District annual award winners announced By Larry Lannan www.LarryInFishers.com The City of Fishers held a banquet Thursday night to recognize vol- unteers around the local community. The Key to the City was awarded to Warren Harling, whose service on the local Plan Com- mission goes all the way back to 1993. This is only the third Key to the City awarded by Mayor Scott Fadness. The first two went to Tom Curry, founder of the S.P.O.R.T.S organization, and long- time Fishers Police Chief George Kehl. “In 1993, the popula- tion of Fishers was 13,000 people,” Mayor Scott Fadness told the crowd. “Warren Harling today is still on the Plan Commis- sion, still on the Board of Zoning Appeals. Not only does he serve on these committees month after month, but he presides over them.” It was my honor to serve as emcee for the event. Kudos to Tony Elliot, Dan Domsic and Mayor Fadness for hold- ing this celebration of volunteering. It’s the first time Fishers has ever done such an event. I suspect it will not be the last one. He explained to the students and staff of Legacy Christian School that he was thankful for the skillset that God had given him, but that having skills meant very little without having purpose for those skills. Carmel signal installation to begin Monday Feb 27The REPORTER

On Monday Feb 27 construction will begin on a traffic signal at the in-tersection of 146th Street and Commu-nity Drive Temporary lane closures and traffic delays can be expected through-out the duration of the project The signal project is planned to last through the month of March and be complete by April 2017

Hamilton County has 9 townships with approximately 600 miles of road-way and rights-of-way 280 bridges and over 600 small structures to main-tain The goal of the Hamilton County Highway Department is to provide and maintain safe accessible and efficient roadways and strive to improve the transportation infrastructure for the cit-izens of Hamilton County

Judith Lynn Britton 66 of Noblesville passed away on Sunday February 12 2017 at home She was born on August 17 1950 to Glenn and Betty (Dar-ringer) Farrow in Indianapolis Her parents preceded her in death

Judy had been employed with Goodwill Industries for over 15 years She was a very thoughtful person and had an endearing lsquoodd ballrsquo sense of humor She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and loved crafts and knick-knacks and was very artistic Her home resembled a Brown County shop She also had a passion for animals especially cats

She is survived by three sons Paul Olson Scott (Brandy) Britton and Greg (Amanda) Britton two siblings Debbie Rushing and Ran-

dy Farrow grandchildren Kyle Dani Ryan Holly Eric Lila Ashley Tyler and Logan and two nephews Zach and Cory

Frances was a graduate of Noblesville High School and a member of Union United Methodist Church

regular-season game Friday night at TheMill defeating Lebanon 57-46 Noblesvilleplayed brilliantly in the first half weatheredthe storm of an expected Tigers run in thethird quarter and took care of business inthe fourth to clinch the win

The Millers never trailed Rico Duncanone of the five seniors that started forNoblesville scored the first points of thegame on a 3-pointer and that would lead toa 20-point first quarter Max Flinchumadded eight points including a pair of 3swhile McGwire Plumer scored seven

Duncan ended the period with a nicemove After the clock ticked under theone-minute mark Duncan had the ball andlooked as if he would hold it for theremainder of the period Instead after about10 seconds he took the ball inside and madea one-handed driving layin That made thescore 20-9 which is where the first periodwould end

One thing is for certain Expect Carmelto be leading the charge at the IUPUINatatorium The Greyhounds putthemselves in excellent position to win theirthird straight state championship byqualifying 18 swims to this afternoonschampionship heat and four more to theconsolation heat

In the process Carmel broke three staterecords Drew Kibler got two of themsmashing the 200 freestyle record with atime of 13330 and setting a new 100 freemark by swimming that race in 4325seconds Kibler will be the top seed in bothevents

Meanwhile the Greyhounds 200 freerelay team of Andrew Couchon CharlesVaughan Evan Kopp and Stefano Batistaset a new state record in that race in a timeof 12267 to earn the top seed thereCarmels other two relays easily reached thechampionship heat with Wyatt DavisBatista Jonathan Bledsoe and Couchonqualifying in the medley relay and JacobMitchell Alec DeLong Andrew Morozovand Kibler advancing in the 400 free relay

Todays state finals begins with thediving preliminaries and semi-finals at 9am with the finals in both swimming anddiving to begin at 1 pm

On Monday Feb 27 construction will begin on a traffic signal at the in-tersection of 146th Street and Commu-nity Drive Temporary lane closures and traffic delays can be expected through-out the duration of the project The signal project is planned to last through the month of March and be complete by April 2017

Hamilton County has 9 townships with approximately 600 miles of road-way and rights-of-way 280 bridges and over 600 small structures to main-tain The goal of the Hamilton County Highway Department is to provide and maintain safe accessible and efficient roadways and strive to improve the transportation infrastructure for the cit-izens of Hamilton County

regular-season game Friday night at TheMill defeating Lebanon 57-46 Noblesvilleplayed brilliantly in the first half weatheredthe storm of an expected Tigers run in thethird quarter and took care of business inthe fourth to clinch the win

The Millers never trailed Rico Duncanone of the five seniors that started forNoblesville scored the first points of thegame on a 3-pointer and that would lead toa 20-point first quarter Max Flinchumadded eight points including a pair of 3swhile McGwire Plumer scored seven

Duncan ended the period with a nicemove After the clock ticked under theone-minute mark Duncan had the ball andlooked as if he would hold it for theremainder of the period Instead after about10 seconds he took the ball inside and madea one-handed driving layin That made thescore 20-9 which is where the first periodwould end

We had a tremendous first quartersaid Millers coach Brian McCauley Ourball movement was excellent Our screeningwas good

Fishersrsquo Drake Stallworth earned the seventh seed in the butterfly event at Fridayrsquos IHSAA boys swimming state preliminariesat the IUPUI Natatorium Stallworth will swim in the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

Carmelrsquos Charles Vaughan finished third in the state prelims of the individual medleyqualifying for the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

Judith Lynn Britton 66 of Noblesville passed away on Sunday February 12 2017 at home She was born on August 17 1950 to Glenn and Betty (Dar-ringer) Farrow in Indianapolis Her parents preceded her in death

Judy had been employed with Goodwill Industries for over 15 years She was a very thoughtful person and had an endearing lsquoodd ballrsquo sense of humor She enjoyed working outside with her flowers and loved crafts and knick-knacks and was very artistic Her home resembled a Brown County shop She also had a passion for animals especially cats

She is survived by three sons Paul Olson Scott (Brandy) Britton and Greg (Amanda) Britton two siblings Debbie Rushing and Ran-

dy Farrow grandchildren Kyle Dani Ryan Holly Eric Lila Ashley Tyler and Logan and two nephews Zach and Cory

were outstandingThe Millers won their final home and

regular-season game Friday night at TheMill defeating Lebanon 57-46 Noblesvilleplayed brilliantly in the first half weatheredthe storm of an expected Tigers run in thethird quarter and took care of business inthe fourth to clinch the win

The Millers never trailed Rico Duncanone of the five seniors that started forNoblesville scored the first points of thegame on a 3-pointer and that would lead toa 20-point first quarter Max Flinchumadded eight points including a pair of 3swhile McGwire Plumer scored seven

Duncan ended the period with a nicemove After the clock ticked under theone-minute mark Duncan had the ball andlooked as if he would hold it for theremainder of the period Instead after about10 seconds he took the ball inside and madea one-handed driving layin That made thescore 20-9 which is where the first periodwould end

We had a tremendous first quartersaid Millers coach Brian McCauley Ourball movement was excellent Our screeningwas good

Noblesville was in the middle of a 15-2run as action moved to the second quarterfinishing that run with six straight pointsFlinchum converted a floater Nolan Ginthermade a layin and Xavier Hines scored offa steal by Plumer one of six takeaways fromPlumer in the game

The Millers led 32-20 at halftime andextended the lead to 40-24 midway throughthe third Lebanon scored seven quick pointsto cut Noblesvilles advantage to 40-31 butthe Millers answered that with a 9-0 run oftheir own

Noblesville carried that run into thefourth period ending it with another 3 fromFlinchum his fourth of the game Flinchumtotaled 17 points one of four players - allseniors - to reach double figures

Plumer scored 11 points while Gintherand Duncan each added 10 Nick Mills thefifth senior on the court helped out with tworebounds and a free throw in the fourthquarter Of course he also madecontributions that didnt show up in theboxscore but are just as important

Nick gave us great energy and thenNolan was really sound for us saidMcCauley

One thing is for certain Expect Carmelto be leading the charge at the IUPUINatatorium The Greyhounds putthemselves in excellent position to win theirthird straight state championship byqualifying 18 swims to this afternoonschampionship heat and four more to theconsolation heat

Fishersrsquo Drake Stallworth earned the seventh seed in the butterfly event at Fridayrsquos IHSAA boys swimming state preliminariesat the IUPUI Natatorium Stallworth will swim in the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

Carmelrsquos Charles Vaughan finished third in the state prelims of the individual medleyqualifying for the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

regular-season game Friday night at TheMill defeating Lebanon 57-46 Noblesvilleplayed brilliantly in the first half weatheredthe storm of an expected Tigers run in thethird quarter and took care of business inthe fourth to clinch the win

The Millers never trailed Rico Duncanone of the five seniors that started forNoblesville scored the first points of thegame on a 3-pointer and that would lead toa 20-point first quarter Max Flinchumadded eight points including a pair of 3swhile McGwire Plumer scored seven

Duncan ended the period with a nicemove After the clock ticked under theone-minute mark Duncan had the ball andlooked as if he would hold it for theremainder of the period Instead after about10 seconds he took the ball inside and madea one-handed driving layin That made thescore 20-9 which is where the first periodwould end

We had a tremendous first quartersaid Millers coach Brian McCauley Ourball movement was excellent Our screeningwas good

Noblesville was in the middle of a 15-2run as action moved to the second quarterfinishing that run with six straight pointsFlinchum converted a floater Nolan Ginthermade a layin and Xavier Hines scored offa steal by Plumer one of six takeaways fromPlumer in the game

The Millers led 32-20 at halftime andextended the lead to 40-24 midway throughthe third Lebanon scored seven quick pointsto cut Noblesvilles advantage to 40-31 butthe Millers answered that with a 9-0 run oftheir own

Noblesville carried that run into thefourth period ending it with another 3 fromFlinchum his fourth of the game Flinchumtotaled 17 points one of four players - allseniors - to reach double figures

Plumer scored 11 points while Gintherand Duncan each added 10 Nick Mills thefifth senior on the court helped out with tworebounds and a free throw in the fourthquarter Of course he also madecontributions that didnt show up in theboxscore but are just as important

One thing is for certain Expect Carmelto be leading the charge at the IUPUINatatorium The Greyhounds putthemselves in excellent position to win theirthird straight state championship byqualifying 18 swims to this afternoonschampionship heat and four more to theconsolation heat

In the process Carmel broke three staterecords Drew Kibler got two of themsmashing the 200 freestyle record with atime of 13330 and setting a new 100 freemark by swimming that race in 4325seconds Kibler will be the top seed in bothevents

After a ridiculously fast IHSAA boysstate swimming preliminaries Fridayevening what will todays state finals bring

One thing is for certain Expect Carmelto be leading the charge at the IUPUINatatorium The Greyhounds putthemselves in excellent position to win theirthird straight state championship byqualifying 18 swims to this afternoonschampionship heat and four more to theconsolation heat

In the process Carmel broke three staterecords Drew Kibler got two of themsmashing the 200 freestyle record with atime of 13330 and setting a new 100 freemark by swimming that race in 4325seconds Kibler will be the top seed in bothevents

Meanwhile the Greyhounds 200 freerelay team of Andrew Couchon CharlesVaughan Evan Kopp and Stefano Batistaset a new state record in that race in a timeof 12267 to earn the top seed thereCarmels other two relays easily reached thechampionship heat with Wyatt DavisBatista Jonathan Bledsoe and Couchonqualifying in the medley relay and JacobMitchell Alec DeLong Andrew Morozovand Kibler advancing in the 400 free relay

After a ridiculously fast IHSAA boysstate swimming preliminaries Fridayevening what will todays state finals bring

One thing is for certain Expect Carmelto be leading the charge at the IUPUINatatorium The Greyhounds putthemselves in excellent position to win theirthird straight state championship byqualifying 18 swims to this afternoonschampionship heat and four more to theconsolation heat

In the process Carmel broke three staterecords Drew Kibler got two of themsmashing the 200 freestyle record with atime of 13330 and setting a new 100 freemark by swimming that race in 4325seconds Kibler will be the top seed in bothevents

Meanwhile the Greyhounds 200 freerelay team of Andrew Couchon CharlesVaughan Evan Kopp and Stefano Batistaset a new state record in that race in a timeof 12267 to earn the top seed thereCarmels other two relays easily reached thechampionship heat with Wyatt DavisBatista Jonathan Bledsoe and Couchonqualifying in the medley relay and JacobMitchell Alec DeLong Andrew Morozovand Kibler advancing in the 400 free relay

Individual championship heat qualifiersfor Carmel are Mitchell in the 200 freeVaughan and Brett Sherman in theindividual medley Couchon Kopp andBatista in the 50 free Couchon in the 100free Mitchell and Davis in the 500 freeDavis in the backstroke and BatistaVaughan and Andrew Rafalko in thebreaststroke

Todays state finals begins with thediving preliminaries and semi-finals at 9am with the finals in both swimming anddiving to begin at 1 pm

Fishersrsquo Drake Stallworth earned the seventh seed in the butterfly event at Fridayrsquos IHSAA boys swimming state preliminariesat the IUPUI Natatorium Stallworth will swim in the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

Carmelrsquos Charles Vaughan finished third in the state prelims of the individual medleyqualifying for the championship heat in todayrsquos finals

Noblesvillersquos 200 freestyle relay placed 12th in the prelims and will swim in theconsolation heat of that event
