Fisher ES and EAS Sliding-Stem Control ValvesFisher ES and EAS general-purpose control valves(figures 1, 2, and 3) are used for throttling or on-offcontrol of a wide variety of liquids and gases. Bothvalve designs have single ports, unbalanced valveplugs, and cage guiding.
In both designs, metal-to-metal seating is standardfor all general applications over a wide range ofpressure drops and temperatures. Metal-to-PTFEseating is optional for more stringent shutoffrequirements.
The Fisher ES product line is available for a widerange of applications, including sulfide and chloridestress-cracking environments common to the oil andgas production industries. To discuss availableconstructions, contact your Emerson ProcessManagement sales office and include the applicablecodes and standards required for theseenvironments.
The easy-e Valve Family
ES and EAS valves are part of the versatile easy-efamily of Fisher industrial control valves. easy-evalves share the following characteristics.
 Multiple trim material choices
Trim temperature capability with standard metalseats to 427C (800F)
 Flexible graphite gaskets
Interchangeable, restricted-capacity trims andfull-flow trims to match variable process flowdemands
Trim part interchangeability that permitsreconfiguring the valve to a different design variation

Whisper Trim I cages (figure 2) that attenuateaerodynamic noise in gaseous service are availablefor all sizes except the NPS 8 ES valve.
Optional constructions provide materialcompatibility with NACE MR0175-2002.
316 stainless steel packing box parts arestandard (including packing flange, studs, and nuts).
Features Compliance with the Clean Air Act—
Optional ENVIRO-SEAL packing systems (figure 4)provide an improved stem seal to help prevent theloss of process fluid. The ENVIRO-SEAL packingsystems feature PTFE, Graphite ULF, or Duplexpacking with live-loading for reduced packingmaintenance.
Valve Plug Stability— Rugged cage guidingprovides increased valve plug stability, whichreduces vibration and mechanical noise.
Economy— Streamlined flow passagesprovide higher efficiency and greater capacities perinitial investment.
Cost-Effective Operation— Increased wearresistance of the standard hardened stainless steeltrim means long-lasting service. Also, trim inventorycosts are cut because dimensional standardizationpermits use of most standard easy-e trim parts.
Easy Maintenance— The valve can stay in thepipeline during removal of trim parts for inspection ormaintenance.
Long-Lasting Shutoff Capability with PTFESeating— Controlled compression of optional seatconstruction protects PTFE disk between metal diskseat and disk retainer (figure 2). The flowstreamcontacts only the edge of the disk during normaloperation.
Compliance with European Standards—Valves are available with dimensions specified byEN/DIN standards. See figure 8 and the note infigure 9.
Sour Service Capability— Unless otherwisenoted, references are to NACE MR0175-2002.Optional materials are available to meet NACEMR0103 and NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156. Materialrequirements under these standards vary by editionand year of issue; the specific standard must bespecified.

ENVIRO-SEAL, HIGH-SEAL Packing SystemsENVIRO-SEAL and HIGH-SEAL packing systemsoffer excellent sealing capabilities. They easily installin your existing valves or can be purchased with newvalves. These systems may help prevent the loss ofprocess fluid. The long operational life and reliabilityof these systems also helps to reduce yourmaintenance costs and downtime.
For applications requiring compliance withenvironmental protection regulations, the uniqueFisher ENVIRO-SEAL packing system (figure 4) anda unique ENVIRO-SEAL bellows seal system (figure 5) are offered. The emission control packingsystem helps to keep emission concentrations belowthe EPA 100 ppm requirement.
For an excellent stem seal in applications that arenot environmentally-sensitive, the Fisher HIGH-SEAL
Graphite ULF packing system is offered. TheHIGH-SEAL packing system provides excellentsealing at pressure/temperature ratings beyondENVIRO-SEAL limits.
ENVIRO-SEAL packing systems, available withPTFE, Graphite ULF, or Duplex packing, and theHIGH-SEAL packing systems, Graphite ULF andgraphite composite, feature live-loading and uniquepacking-ring arrangements for long-term, consistentsealing performance.
Class VI Shutoff Capabilities
ES valves with metal seat constructions can provideANSI/FCI Class VI shutoff capabilities. See tables 1and 2.

1. These in-body process temperatures assume an outside, ambient temperature of 21C (70F) and no insulation on the bonnet. When using any packing at low process temperatures,a cast extension bonnet may have to be used to prevent packing damage which could result from the formation of valve stem frost. Material selection for trim and other components willalso be limiting factors.

NOTE:DO NOT EXCEED THE MAXIMUM PRESSURE AND TEMPERATURE FOR THE
PRESSURE RATING OF THE BODY MATERIAL USED, EVEN THOUGH THE TRIMSSHOWN MAY HAVE HIGHER CAPABILITIES.
BE ESPECIALLY CAREFUL TO SPECIFY SERVICE TEMPERATURE IF TRIMS3, 4, OR 37 ARE SELECTED, AS DIFFERENT THERMAL EXPANSION RATES RE-QUIRE SPECIAL PLUG CLEARANCES, ALSO, USE TRIM 37 INSTEAD OF TRIM 4FOR NONLUBRICATING FLUIDS SUCH AS SUPERHEATED STEAM OR DRYGASES BETWEEN 149 AND 316C (300 AND 600F).
TRIMS 4 AND 29 CAN BE USED TO PRESSURE DROP SHOWN ONLY WITHCLEAN, DRY GAS. FOR OTHER THAN CLEAN, DRY GAS, TRIMS 4 AND 29 CANBE USED ONLY UP TO 21 BAR (300 PSI).
USE TRIM 27 INSTEAD OF TRIM 29 FOR NONLUBRICATING FLUIDS SUCHAS SUPERHEATED STEAM OR DRY GASES BETWEEN 149 AND 316C (300 AND600F).
