• Fish liver oils have been used in the middle ages and

populations in Norway, Iceland, Greenland.

• Raw material comes from : cod, coalfish, and haddock.

• Several species of shark have also been used.

Cod liver oil is the essential oil extracted from

the livers of Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua).
