    The t ransducer ac ts as the eyes and ears o f your new sonar. Proper

    t ransducer se lect ion and insta lla tion are c r it ical to the operat ion o f your

    unit.

    cone angle) , dep th and tempera tu re sensing , t ransom mount t ransducer.

    Th is t ransducer p rov ides good a ll -around per fo rmance . Other op tional

    dual f requency t ransducers a re ava i lab le f rom your loca l dea ler o r GARM IN.

    shape . The wider the cone ang le , the la rger the coverage area a t a g iven

    dep th. W h i le i t i s good to see as la rge o f an area as possib le, i t i s best to

    se lect a f requency se t ting tha t su i ts the water tha t you are on .

    W i th a dual f requency t ransducer, you m ay se lec t e i ther a 200kHzf requ en cy, a 50 k Hz f requ en cy o r bo th. T h e 5 0 k Hz f requ en cy se tt in g

    prov ides a wide cone ang le . Th is wide cone ang le p roduces a la rge coverage

    area , bu t less de ta iled bo t tom resolu t ion . In a reas where bo t tom con tours

    change qu ick ly , th is can resu lt in "dead zones" where f i sh canno t be seen .

    In con trast , the 200kHz f requency se t ting p rov ides a nar row cone

    ang le . Th is narrow cone ang le p roduces a smal ler v iewing area (compared

    Mounting the Transducer

    D O N O T mount the transducer behind strakes,

    struts, f i t t ings, water intake or discharge ports, or

    anything that creates ai r bubbles or causes the

    water to become turbu len t. I t is impor tant that

    the transducer be in calm, non-turbulent water for

    opt imal performance.

    Proper t ransducer insta l la t ion is key to ge t ting the best per fo rmance

    f rom your new un i t. I f the t ransducer lead is too short , ex tension cab les

    are ava ilab le f rom you G ARM IN dealer. D O N O T cu t the t ransducer lead

    gr i t we t o r d r y sandpaper .

    2 . Bu i ld a dam us ing s t r ip cau lk abou t 1 /4" ta l l. Pou r abou t 1 /8" o f 2 -part ,

    s low cu re epoxy in the dam. P lace the t ransduce r in the epoxy, tu rningthe t ransduce r to work ou t any a i r bubb les.

    3 . We igh t the t ransduce r in p lace and a llow to cu re for 24 hou rs .

    Speed Sensor Installation

    as possib le . L ike the t ransducer , fo r the speed sensor to opera te p roperly ,

    speed sensor insta l la t ion instruc t ions to assemble the speed sensor wi th

    th e m o un ing b r ack e t, d r il l h o le s i n t he t r an so m , m o u n t t h e a ssem b ly an drou te the cab le .

    Drill a 3/4" hole well above the water l ine.

    Coat the ins ide of the hole with Marine Sealant .

    Pos it i on C able C lamps about one- th ir d o f

    the dis tance from the hole to the transducer.

    Dri ll 118" pilot holes 3/8" deep for the mounting screws.

    Coat the screws with M arine Sealant before ins tal ling them.

    Insta l /2-Amp Fuse

    \Installing the Wiring Harness:1. Determine the polari ty of the fuse holder using a Test Light or Volt Meter.

    2. Install the Red (+) wire on the Posi t ive Fuse Holder Terminal .

    3. Instal l the Black (-) wire on the Negative Fuse Holder Terminal .

    4 . Inst a ll a 2 amp fuse in the Fuse Holder .

    During a typical installation, only the Red and Black wires are used. The

    Blue wire supplies N M E A data, and doesn't have to be connected for normal

    operation of the unit. The Yellowwire is not used.

    Wiring Harness Installation

    The Fi shf inder 100 Blue comes wi th a wi ring harness that connect s

    the un i t to power and the t ransducer wi th one easy- to -remove connection.

    Make sure the wi r ing harness wi ll reach the un it before beg inn ing

    installation.

    I f i t i s necessary to extend the power /data wi res , use a wire o f compa-

    rab le s ize and keep your ex tension as short as possib le . I f the t ransducer

    l ead i s to o s h or t, D O N O T cu t t h e t ran sd u ce r l ead t o len gt hen t he c abl e.

    connected to a power supp ly tha t exceeds 18 VDC, a 'Batte ry V ol tage High '

    To tes t the t ransducer and speed sensor insta l la t ion , g radual ly increase

    the boat's speed whi le check ing the un it operat ion. I f the uni t d isp lays

    are a l igned para lle l wi th the bo t tom. I f necessary , ad just the ir he igh ts un t il

    the un it opera tes cor rec t ly I t may be necessary to make severa l ad justments

    to ensure p roper opera t ion th roughout the speed range. I f the s ignals do

    no t improve , i t may be necessary to move the t ransducer o r speed sensor

    to a different location.

    'TIP

    When adjust ing the depth of the transducer, make the adjustments in smal l

    increments, no more than 1/8" . Placing the transducer or speed sensor too

    deep can adversely affect the boat 's p erformance and increase the r isk that they

    may str ike underwater objects.

    The Fishfinder 100 Blue comes wi th a bu i lt - in s imula to r . W h i le in

    The F ishf inder 100 Blue displays a message when an alarm is t r ipped.

    To clear the message, press the EN TER key. I f the EN TER key is not

    pressed, the unit w il l automatical ly remove m os t messages af ter 10 seconds

    and display a reminder icon in the lower lef t corner of the char t unt i l the

    alarm is no longer val id .
