LFSRM provided foster care services to 203 domestic children and youth through 120 foster homes. 90% of youth experienced only one or no placement changes during the last fiscal year.

In addition, LFSRM provided foster care and independent living services to 60 unaccompanied refugee minors of whom 82% experienced only one or no place-ment changes during the last fiscal year.82%

At LFSRM, we believe there is no such thing as “other people’s kids.” Through our Foster Care Program, we work diligently with our families to support them through the fostering process and beyond. We provide skilled, caring substitute families for children unable to live with their birth families.

During the 2019-20 fiscal year LFSRM provided care management and other direct services to 205 older adults and caregivers, including guardianship services to for 34 individuals with diminished capacity. 205

Programs offered through Lifework Aging Solutions are specifically designed to redefine the aging expe-rience for vulnerable older adults with diminished decision-making capacity, and to provide guidance and support older adults, their families, and caregivers as they deal with aging related issues. Services include guardianship, care management, consultations, and caregiver support.

refugee and asyleeLFSRM works together with LIRS, and other churches, organizations, community groups, businesses, and individuals to provide the services and supplies necessary for refugees to become self-sufficient and integrate into their new communities.

adoption & pregnancy counselingWe help to build families through infant, designated, and international adoption by providing support, education, and counseling. Our adoption and pregnancy counselors work closely with clients as they consider and prepare for adoptive parenthood. We are committed to serving children and families regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or marital status.

LFSRM offered diligent support to77 adoptive families and 62 expectant mothers. LFSRM ensures that moms are comfortable with the decisions they are making for themselves and their baby. Additionally, adoptive families take comfort in knowing that women who chose adoption are confident this is the right choice for them. This dual support process resulted in 89% of adoption plans resulting in successful placement.

family support & educationEvery family has strengths and every family can use support. We further believe that every child deserves to grow up in a safe, nurturing environment. Family Support and Education Services are designed to help families remain intact and experience less domestic violence, abuse and neglect. This is accomplished through education to help families have the knowledge and skills they need to make positive choices and have healthy relationships, Support to help families experience less stress and isolation, and Connection to Resources to help families be better able to meet their own needs and advocate for themselves. Ser-vices include a variety of evidence based Parent Education programming, the SafeTouch Body Safety Program, Supervised Visitation & Safe Exchange, as well as no-cost emergency respite for families in crisis who have children ages 5 or under.

11,441During the 2019-20 fiscal year, Family Support and Education programs strengthened families through services to 1,090 unduplicated adults and 10,351 unduplicated children. 99% of adults who received services through the KPC Respite Center reported a reduction in stress. 79% of Parenting Education class participants reported an increase in knowledge of safe and positive parenting methods.

97% of all students evaluated were able to identify a safe adult they could talk to if they experienced an abusive situation.97%

Volunteers serve Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountains (LFSRM) by providing one-on-one visitation for older adults, mentoring and coaching foster children, performing administrative duties in the offices, serving on fund raising committees, acting as speakers and by co-sponsoring, mentoring and supporting refugee families. They also organize, manage and participate in hands-on projects like the backpack and school supply drive, Angel tree gifts, and Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets.
