New Payee Setup Feature

To improve the process of adding payees, the Setup Assistant can be used to quickly set up multiple payees from a single page. The Setup Assistant lists common payees organized into categories (for example, credit card, mortgage, and so on) and displays them based on the ZIP Code. Consumers can quickly scan and make selections.

Access the Setup Assistant by:

Clicking the Add your payees button from the first-time user splash page.

Selecting the Setup Assistant (to add multiple payees) option from the Pay someone new drop-down menu.

To add a payee, select the name from the list. If the business name does not appear or a person needs to be added, the name can be entered in the Friends, Family, Other People or Businesses entry box.

Once a payee is selected, the least amount of information necessary to make the payment is required. Many billers require only an account number while others may also require a ZIP Code or even the full address. All of the entries are verified in real-time and the consumer is immediately notified if an address is invalid. Once the information is entered, click Continue.

The payee is added and appears in the My Payees list. A confirmation message also appears above the My Payees list. To add more payees, select or enter the additional names. Once all of the payees needed are added, click Exit and start paying bills to proceed to the main landing page.

Abnormal Payments Reviewed

Prior to this change, a consumer’s payment was scheduled to be processed and a confirmation message appeared in the list of people and business to pay and above the Pending Payments section on the Make Payments landing page.

Now, scheduled payments are validated against previous payments made to that same payee to help prevent egregious data entry errors. If the scheduled payment amount is significantly greater than the previous payment, then the following window appears:

Note: Only newly scheduled standard payments are reviewed. This feature does not apply to edited payments or alternative payment types (Expedited or Person-to-Person Payments).

Masked Funding Account Number Added to Edit Payment Window

Prior to this change, only the funding account nickname appeared in the Pay from drop-down menu on the Edit Payment window.

Now, the payee nickname along with a masked funding account number appears.
