Moments from the Music Suite

Hello, Church Family! I hope that all of you are having a wonderful summer. Joel and I would like to take a moment and thank the Praise Band and all of the Musicians who have blessed our congregation through music thus far this summer. Thanks to each of you for sharing your God given talents. We also want to make you aware of a very special upcoming Concert that will take place in our Sanctuary. Please mark your calendars now because you will not want to miss this opportunity. On Sunday evening, October 11 at 6:00 p.m., the Children of the World International Children’s Choir will be presenting a wonderful sixty minute Concert. The Choir, which is sponsored by World Help, is comprised of orphaned and disadvantaged chil-dren from several different countries. According to a recent World Help press release, “The Choir represents a rich and culturally diverse set of backgrounds and experiences, each with an urgent story to tell. This year’s Rescue Tour calls attention to the staggering impact that poverty, mal-nutrition and dirty water have on millions of children around the world. Through the powerful medium of song, dance, spoken word and creative media, Children of the World provides a compelling message of hope and opportunity, leaving an unforget-table impression with audiences across the country. The Children have performed in such venues as Focus on the Family, Brooklyn Tabernacle and Disney World.” Please make plans to attend this special Concert and please prayerfully consider being a host family while these precious children are in Wilson. More details will be forth-coming. Also, for additional information regarding World Help, please visit worldhelp.net or call toll free 1-800-541-6691. We look forward to this blessing! In His Service, Jennifer & Joel Gay

OUR RESPONSE

Song of Celebration YOU NEVER LET GO Praise Band Sending Forth

From Pastor Charles: Today’s lectionary lesson from Mark contains two distinct stories concerning the ministry of Jesus and his disciples. In Mark 6:30-34, we see the disciples returning to Jesus after hav-ing been sent out to teach, to heal the sick and cast out demons. Returning after a job well done, Jesus offered them a well de-served rest. A retreat in the wilderness…a vacation of sorts. Having just returned from a glorious week at the beach with my family, I can really relate to that! Who doesn’t enjoy a vacation? Time away from work! Traveling to a different place, with new sights and a break from our ordinary routine. How blessed we are to live in such a beautiful state. In just a few hours, we can travel to the mountains and experi-ence the grandeur of God’s creative power. Or, we can head east until the land ends and we can stand with the ocean at our feet and catch a glimpse of God’s power and glory in a magnificent sunrise! In the lesson for today, the disciples are not able to take that vacation. The needy crowd goes before them and they are confronted by them the minute they get out of the boat. And Jesus has compassion on them for they are like sheep without a shepherd. In Mark 6:53-56, the second part of today’s story, Jesus and his disciples continue to be about the work of ministering to the needs of others. The vacation has to wait, the needs are so many and Jesus, the good shepherd, healed them all ! How blessed we are to have a shepherd who knows our needs and provides for us today, tomorrow and forever!

MUSIC NOTES

This morning we would like to thank Janie Leegins, Soprano, and Dee Pellegrino, Violinist, for ministering to us through the gift of music.
