Welcome to St. Louise Parish! · The most current liturgy guidelines will be announced prior to Mass. · Your financial contributions are still needed and welcomed! A collection basket will be passed during Mass.

Here is a QR code if you would prefer to donate online:

Entrance Antiphon: To you, I lift up my soul, O my God. In you, I have trusted; let me not be put to shame. Nor let my enemies exult over me; and let none who hope in you be put to shame.

Gloria: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will. We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you, we give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King. O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father,

you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us; you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

Responsorial Psalm (Ps 25:4-5, 8-9, 10, 14): To you, O Lord, I lift my soul.

Profession of Faith: I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made. For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,

he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.

Holy, Holy: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts. Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

Communion Antiphon: The Lord will bestow his bounty, and our earth shall yield its increase.

Prayer for Pastoral Planning: Lord Jesus, we give you thanks for your ministry on earth, in which you proclaimed the Kingdom of God and conversion of life. We give you thanks for your passion, death and resurrection by which you manifested the perfect love of God, offering all who believe in you the gift of eternal life. We thank you for your promise to remain with us always as we faithfully carry out your mission.

As members of your Mystical Body, the Church, we come to you seeking the gift and guidance of your Holy Spirit.

Help us to become who you call us to be and to accomplish all you ask of us according to the will of the Father.

Grant us the grace of knowing you, loving you and serving you in all our brothers and sisters. Grant that our faith in you may permeate every aspect of our lives. Help us to shed all worldly ways that we may live the Gospel with truth and integrity. Grant that we may be more perfectly conformed to you and live as your witnesses in the world today. Amen.

Mother of the New Evangelization, pray for us!

¡Bienvenidos a la parroquia de Sta. Luisa!

Salmo Responsorial (Salmo 24, 4-5.8-9.10.14): A ti, Señor, elevo mi alma.

Credo: Creo en un solo Dios, Padre todopoderoso, Creador del cielo y de la tierra, de todo lo visible y lo invisible. Creo en un solo Señor, Jesucristo, Hijo único de Dios, nacido del Padre antes de todos los siglos: Dios de Dios, Luz de Luz, Dios verdadero de Dios verdadero, engendrado, no creado, de la misma naturaleza del Padre, por quien todo fue hecho; que por nosotros, los hombres, y por nuestra salvación bajó del cielo, y por obra del Espíritu Santo se encarnó de María, la Virgen, y se hizo hombre; y por nuestra causa fue crucificado en tiempos de Poncio Pilato;

Dear Friends at St. Louise,

Happy first Sunday of Advent!

We have some great news to share! Archbishop Etienne will visit our parish, for the first time since he arrived in Seattle, on Sunday, December 5, at the 9AM Mass. You might recall that he was scheduled to give an online retreat and then celebrate the 5PM Saturday Mass with us last February. A snowstorm hit that weekend. We were still able to have the retreat, with 80-plus people in attendance, but we had to cancel the Mass. I am delighted that he will finally get to meet at least some of the people in our parish.

Speaking of Archbishop Etienne, I think most of you know that he is bringing back the obligation to attend Mass on Sundays and holy days of obligation, beginning on December 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. We know, after celebrating tens of thousands of Masses in the Archdiocese since we have been able to have public celebration of Mass again, that the protocols have worked and we have had very few transmissions of COVID-19. The Archbishop wants us to realize that there is nothing like actually being with the people of God and receiving the Body of Christ at Mass, even though we will continue to offer Masses online for those who are sick for any reason, who care for the sick, or who feel anxious about being in large crowds. Those are the kinds of cases where Catholics may justifiably miss Mass.

Let me put the importance of Sunday Mass in the context of a story. My friend, Fr. Tom Vandenburg (who is brother to our parishioner, Russ Vandenburg), likes to share with people that when he was young, their family went camping, I believe it was in Montana. His father made sure that they found out where and when the nearest Mass was on Sunday, because he took the Sunday obligation very seriously. They got to the small country parish only to find out that the Mass was an hour later than they thought. Now-Fr. Tom and his brothers thought that they had tried and that was good enough. Their dad said no, we can wait. So, they batted rocks until it was time for Mass. Fr. Tom said this incident – the importance it placed on being at Mass – made a huge impression on him, and was in fact one of the experiences that led him to the priesthood.

Attending Mass is a way to witness that Jesus is the center of our lives – it makes Sunday the center of our week. Celebrating Mass together is the center of how we live the Lord’s Day, remembering Jesus, who rose and sent the Holy Spirit on a Sunday. Without the Paschal Mystery – that is, Jesus’s death, resurrection, and sending of the Holy Spirit – we have nothing that endures. We celebrate and live that mystery in the Eucharist.

Fr. Gary Zender

p.s. I received this message from Maryknoll: “The Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers sincerely thank the parishioners of St. Louise for their generous contributions on the weekend of October 10. Your gifts make a real difference in bringing the mission work of the Church to people all over the world. – Deacon Paul Bork, Mission Appeals Unit Manager”

Queridos Amigos de Sta. Luisa:

Diá-cono Paul Bork, Administrador.”

Special Stewardship Story

Here is a special story about stewardship in the life of a spe-cial parishioner, Grace, who has special needs. She is part of the Evergreen Transition Program in the Bellevue School District. She gets to do all sorts of cool stuff that is perfect for her. She has an IEP goal of grocery shopping from a list. Every week, she and her paraeducator have been going to Trader Joe’s to purchase with a gift card non-perishable food items off of her grocery

list. On November 10 they took the bus to St. Louise and she got to donate all the stuff to the St. Vincent DePaul Society through the bin at church. There is an example of faith in ac-tion for all of us!
