What would you like to see us do next year?

More mission in the community? More impact

globally? More focus on member care? More

focus on fellowship? More focus on reaching

out? More focus on keeping the property in

great shape? More focus on Christian

education? We are a broad enough congregation

that for each one of those and more, someone in

the congregation is going to say “YES!” Others

of us would say “YES” to all of them.

Sometimes it seems as if there is so much to

focus on, it’s overwhelming. Yet God has called

to this congregation disciples with all the

resources we need to fulfill our mission in this

place, all the resources we need to continue

growing, all the resources we need to impact

lives, both here and globally.

How is God calling you to be a part of the work

of this church? This is stewardship season, so

naturally money is the focus for the moment –

we simply could not keep this building in great

shape, buy Christian education materials, give to

mission globally, host Boo from the Pew for our

neighborhood families, provide for fellowship

time after worship, send cards to those on our

prayer list, etc., without your financial support.

How is God calling you to give financially this

year so that the ministry of this church can

flourish? The need is great – is God nudging

you to increase your giving to meet the needs?

Please pray about that and talk about that with

those close to you. So much of what we can do

next year is dependent on the pledges that come

in this year.

How is God also calling you to be a part of the

work of the church in other ways? Money is

necessary, but without disciples putting faith into

action, money is pointless. Will you be a

liturgist in worship? Serve on an audio/visual

team? Teach Sunday school? Help with

maintenance or cleaning projects around the

church? Serve on the mission committee? Plan

a fellowship event? Host fellowship time after

church? Visit a shut-in? Serve on the finance

committee? These are just a few ways you can

be part of the ministry and growth of the church.

Take a look at our website for more ideas.

The mission God has called us to here is entirely

possible! Because God has called you to be a

part of this community of faith. How is God

calling you to give?

PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS Fall is the time of year we joyfully express gratitude for God's blessings by sharing our blessings with those in need at home and around the world. The Thank Offering was establish in 1888 by Eliza Clokey of Springfield, OH who urged every woman to give a dollar above their usual contribution to this offering. Thank Offering funds programs that provide education, safe housing, clean water, health care, help for prisoners, justice for women and so much more. In 2016, fifteen projects were chosen for grants totaling $382,500. Ten of the projects are for ministries for people in need in the US. Five of the projects are international ministries . In Cincinnati the Forever Home Project received $34,00 to purchase household supplies, food and transportation to assist the reestablishment of families after being homeless. In Liberal, KS the First Presbyterian Child Care Center received $7,500 to establish a fence around their daycare center and purchase outdoor play equipment and educational supplies. In Little Rock, AR, the Presbyterian Village received $50,000 to renovate 10 residential care bathrooms. These are just a few of the ten US projects that were funded. Your support of this offering will be greatly appreciated. Checks can be made out to PW and in the memo, mark it “Thank Offering”.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through God’s mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)

God does indeed work through us via the Holy Spirit. As we worship, study and complete mission projects together, God creates a synergy that is far greater than we could ever accomplish individually. As we come to the end of 2017 we reflect on all that has been accomplished this year and give thanks for everyone who has stepped up and made a difference. Our work is done both inside and outside of our beautiful building and many people contribute in many different ways. Our theme for this year’s stewardship program is “Under Construction-God’s Blueprint”. As you stroll the hallways you will see that classrooms have been spruced up and refigured, building repairs have been made and our spaces are crisper and better defined. We have continued to build a great staff who lead and support us in our ministry, in our mission and in helping us to focus on what it means to follow God’s blueprint in our personal lives. As we think about God’s Blueprint for our church, we also have the opportunity to consider what God’s Blueprint is for us as individuals. Stewardship, in the form of both serving others and our financial commitment is something for all of us to consider. It is one of the many ways we can put our faith into action. What we are able to accomplish next year as a church will depend greatly on the financial resources we have available. That is why each year we are asked to reveal our commitment by completing our pledge cards. Once these are in hand, the committees and staff can budget for how we might continue to build and reveal God’s plan for us. Please watch for your pledge card and narrative budget which will be mailed to you the week of November

6th. We will be committing our pledges to God’s work at our November 19th worship services. Please join us

for muffins, cider and fellowship following the services. May God bless First Presbyterian Church and its

members as we strive to follow and live out God’s blueprint for us.
