To all who are weary and need rest, to all who mourn and need comfort, to all who are lonely and need friendship,
to all who are glad and would serve others, to all who are complacent and need disturbing,
to all who sin and need a Savior, this Church opens wide its door in the name of Christ, and bids you welcome.
July Birthdays in Abundance!
Last Thursday, July 23, the Fabulous Faithful Folders came for the folding,
but stayed for the sweets.
We celebrated several July Birthdays that we knew of, knowing we likely
overlooked a few more. We downed some non-alcoholic bubbly and had
cupcakes in honor of Faye Brock, Nick Rebbe, Susan Pearson, Jane Fraser,
Lynda Harris and Beth
Sheahan. And Doug Hall’s
birthday was the 29th.
Beth tried the
two-handed pan-
demic wave to
blow out her
candle. Nick
snapped out his
flame with a
sharp clap.
Susan Pearson
got conversation-
starter questions
as a gift from Joyce Laabs and we all sat around the table an-
swering the questions and sharing stories. It was a short taste of
the good-old days … like way back in early March 2020.
Stewardship Campaign 2020: Realizing the Dream
August - The 20 committees and programs of the church meet to plan goals and activities for the coming year. Finances needed to accomplish these goals are identified and each committee/program formulates a budget.
September - Committee/Program budgets are presented to the church treasurer who combines them into a preliminary budget and presents it to the Finance Com-mittee for deliberation. The Diaconate and Session review the preliminary budget at their monthly meetings.
October – The Finance Committee finalizes the budget and presents it to the Diac-onate. Session approves the final budget for presentation to the congregation. Each member receive a letter with the budget, a brief explanation, and a pledge card.
November – Presentations are made during worship each week and at WATCH about the impact of the budget on the programs and activities of the church. Com-mitment Sunday is observed on the Sunday before Thanksgiving when members bring their completed pledge cards to the altar.
December – The Finance Committee compares pledges received with the proposed budget and makes any necessary adjustments. The Diaconate reviews the budget
and passes it on to the Session for final approval.

TOY SHOP TIME It is time to collect TOYS for the Colquitt County Children’s Toy Shop.
These toys will be delivered to children for Christmas. New toys or gently
used second hand toys are welcomed. Summer is a great time to clean out
those toy boxes to get ready for the next year.
The Before and After Photos Say It All A longtime project came to completion last week. Our colorful
stained glass windows have been repaired and new, clear
protective coverings are now in place. All who gave to repair
the windows, the deacons who managed the project and the
congregation as a whole can be proud of the stunning trans-
formation and earthly reflection of God’s glory.
DON’T FORGET TO UPDATE YOUR MEMBER PROFILE Yes, even if your address, phone number, and family
have not changed, we need you to complete the Family
and Personal Information forms. Susan is entering the in-
formation in Nick Rebbe’s church computer. It is easier and
less time consuming to enter the information from your form
than to chase it through several different locations. The Per-
sonal Information form will give the additional information of
which programs in the church that you are active or interest-
ed in serving. We now have received and updated 84
families and 184 individuals.
Call 229-985-3158 or use this link to access & print member
information forms to fill out and return to the office:

We are into our 20th week of isolation and wearing masks. I miss you more each day. I pray each night
that the curve will flatten and the virus will finally go away. I pray for the researchers who are trying to find
a formula for a vaccine.
Just to let you know what Bonnie and I are doing during this time. This Wednesday, August 5, 2020 we
will prepare a meal to be served at the soup kitchen. This month we are sending baked ham, creamed corn,
cheese and macaroni, turnip greens, cornbread, and a variety of desserts (Pies and cookies). Because of
COVID 19 the people who usually come to the center to eat with not be able to do so. A group of volun-
teers will prepare take out boxes for the people to pick up. We prepare a meal the first Wednesday of every
other month so we will prepare again in October.
I have been in contact with Melissa Coleman from The Center at VSU in Valdosta. She is having to work
around the beginning of school. She will also have to decide how activities at The Center will be handled.
I am waiting for a schedule from her so I will know when we are preparing their meals.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT
During this pandemic, I find myself being not so thankful for things. I have to give myself a "talking to"
and remember just how fortunate and blessed I truly am. I then stop and say, "Lord, I'm so thankful".
Do you take time to find cause for gratitude each day?\
I look forward to the time when we can gather to eat and fellowship. Take care and stay safe.
In Christ, Faye
